The idea is to encourage women to buy condoms by marketing the condoms directly to women. Women are the "gatekeepers of sex". Lets face it, the real reason that women don't buy condoms is that they are lazy or they want to get pregnant, not because of the packaging. DUH.

I thought female condoms already existed ? It was a big ring on the outside and obviously looks like an inverted male condom.

Its not even the female condom, its just male condoms marketed for women.

It also has a ring on the inside, that is how it is hold into place. They are made out of polyeurothane. Wife and I tried a couple of them before. Unless you have plenty of lube, it feels like humping syran wrap. I don't think the ring was very comfortable for her either.

Who said she isn't? If she doesn't want to be pregnant, they should be using both.

She has tried the pill. Here are the wonderful side effects:

1. It makes her gain weight FAST.
2. She isn't in the mood for sex. Never.
3. She doesn't self-lubricate. Dries out.
4. Her breasts get really sore for most of the month.
5. She spots for several months, then gushes, then spots...
6. Her face gets really greasy and she breaks out big time.

Yea. It's not pretty. 🙁

We've tried many kinds. I did a LOT of research on bc pills - the best one for her was the Triphasil. Not only was it tri-phasic, which more closely mimics the cycle, but it was very androgenic which put her sex drive through the roof. But that is the one that made her break out really bad and make her spot forever.

Someday I'll get around to finishing http://www.knowthepill.com. 😛

On a side note - don't take birth control pills for more than 5 years, you need to take a break from them, otherwise you could very well end up sterile and dependent on artificial estrogen.

More than people realize - even many of the women on them don't realize, because they have been on it since high school. All but a few pills have a negative androgenic effect, meaning they lower your sex drive. I'm guessing that is really why it is such effective birth control. 😛

Don't a lot of women stay on the pill for more than 5 years?

I'm sure they do. It has been linked to an increase in cervical and breast cancer.

edit:
And, it has also not been linked to cervical and breast cancer. Medical community can't seem to make up their mind on it.
