Elevator Etiquette

-don't take the elevator if you live on a lower floor. What floor is permissable depends on the height of the building...I live in a 17 floor building, I think 2-4 is unacceptable.
-If there are 2 sets of elevators, like regular & express, only hit the down button for 1, not both
-don't hit any buttons when you get out, we aren't 5 years old
-if you stink, take the stairs

theres more that i thought of and can't remember. People really suck at elevators, and its really annoying.

I like getting on the elevator in tall buildings, like 20 -30 stories, and hit all the buttons really quick! :Q Hell, I'm in no hurry to get where I'm going and noone else should be either.

Hehe, that third thing you mentioned rang a bell in my head. When I was in Vegas with my family and some cousins, we were getting off of an elevator and I decided to push all the buttons. At the bottom floor, everyone got off and the next group got on, one person yelled a little but didn't know who it was. My dad just laughed a bit and told me not to do it that bad again. Oh, there were tons of floors and I pressed them for each one

Press the Ground Level button if you are the last person getting off the elevator.

Unless you have some sort of disability in which you can't walk up 4 flights of stairs. aka my Grandma or something

I think the reason is that people are simply not very considerate of others. People don't think about what affect their actions will have on others.

Those things that go up and down are transportation devices? I thought they were automatic portable latrines. You know, you use them, they go down (presumably to a sewer or waste management facility) and by the time you need it again it's clean. No wonder people looked shocked the last time I dropped trou. I owe that little old lady and her poodles an apology.

that was always the unspoken rule in college.

2 floors = unacceptable (unless you're carrying something heavy, are injured below the waist, or is a professor)
3 floors = no problems unless the elevator is crowded. even if it is crowded, no one will say anything to your face, but some people will sigh heavily after the doors close.
4+ floors = always ok

I live on the 2nd floor of a 19 floor building.. I never take the elevator at ground level unless my hands are completely full from groceries or other items, and thats ONLY if they elevator is already there. I wont wait for it to come down or up.

I however, do take the elevator from the sub basement 2 level.. its 4 flights of stairs.

My father in law works with a very well known elevator company and he told us that most elevators (exception to older ones) are programmed to automatically come down to ground level when they empty.

We have 3 elevators in our building and his company services all of them. One is programmed to sit at the lowest level, one on the top floor, and one on ground.
