Does anyone here use eletric razors? if so what kind do you use? how often to you have to replace the razor blades? Im looking to get a eletric razor.

Nope I use an electric razor. 😛
I prefer the Panasonic Linears. They are wet/dry and you can shave in the shower if you want.

wow, i was just thinking the same thing today as i have to go out soon and get new blades for my disposable and it's getting to be expensive.

I have a Norelco from somewhere around 1992. I've only replace the blades on it once and that was after about 10 years.

Battery does work much any more but I always use it plugged in anyway. Thing has lasted much longer than I was expecting.

I've had three thus far. The best one is theBraun 8595. You are supposed to change the blade system every 18 months. It is self-cleaning and you have to change the cleaning cartridges every month to 2 months. It's just so easy to use because it's essentially maintenance-free, just put it back in the base and it's ready to go for next time. It's also a great shave! (most important of all)

Yes, used one since I started shaving. I like the braun with the screen type head. I don't have a heavy beard so I haven't changed the blad in about, well, 5 years. It cuts just fine. The battery quit working about 3 years ago but it plugs in fine for the shave. I have a spare screen for the head but I won't replace it unless the old one gets damaged.

are the cleaning cartridges expensive? how about the blade system?

also, did you use a disposable before you started using an electric? i'm trying to determine if people in this category find the electric to be passably close to as good a shave as a disposable.

I have a Remington R-9270 rotary electric. I paid about $65 at Sam's Club.

I recently started using a Mach 3 and I like a regular shave better, but the electric is much easier and faster. What I use depends on how much of a hurry I'm in.

I use Norelco but I don't really like it. I never get a clean shave with it and it leaves my skin dry and irritated. I usually use it when I'm in a hurry and don't have time to normal shave.

The cleaning cartrdiges I believe are about 9 bucks for a two-pack. That should last about 4 months. The blade system, I believe, runs about 25-30 bucks. But like someone posted before, you can go way over the 18-month mark before replacement.

I have used both actually for a long time. I like electric because I can shave everyday without irritating my skin. I still use my Mach3 blade every so often, but to be honest, the electric gets just as close. However, I had a cheapo Braun before this one and that was, well, crap. It's worth the money to get a nice one. Anyway, if you tend to get irritated skin, particularly around your neck, then electric will help a lot.

Braun 8595 - see post above. Amazon has been doing this thing where you get $50 on Amazon bucks for buying the razor. However, some Costcos also have it and if you get it there you get a replacement set with it. Had I known about the Costco deal, I probably would have gone that route. However, the $50 from Amazon is essentially cash....

No mechanical devices near my face thank you.

I'll go with my Sensor Excel 🙂

I bought a $100 Norelco something from Walmart a couple months ago... used it for a month. It worked ok but it didn't shave as good as my Mach 3... and it irritated my neck/under my chin. Plus it seemed to take longer, not be faster than just using my Mach 3 with some Edge shave gel.
I'll probably hold on to it for the rare occassion that one day I actually get to take a vacation, less to pack that way. 😉

Same here - electric razors do a crappy job. Mach 3 Turbo and Sensor Excel for me (I use both)

How are they on the head? As good as Mach 3 Turbos?

I shave with disposibles EXTREAM Gilette on monday and then I Norelco in the shower tues-fri.

The electic seems to work fine If I have shaved the day before but is crappy if it is a 3 day shadow

I just recently bought a Norelco... works perfectly, except if I let it go too long, then it pulls hairs like a mother!
