Electroluminescent Materials

A couple of buddies and I are trying to come up with an electroluminescent material, but I've run a bit short trying to find a list of electroluminescent materials. Currently we plan on using phosphorous, but if anyone knows of any other materials that would work as well, I'd be happy to hear about it. Zinc Sulfide seems like it might be another possibility.
Any thoughts?
 
phosphorus? ZnS? These are pretty old in my book, however if it is a starting point, it should give you an understanding. Any LED would be a start and it's working components. In addition, look for cold cathodes. Most of this stuff is on the web search engines.

Have you seen the new silicon materials? How about polyphenylene? These are materials that are pushing the EL materials to blue, even to the near UV. However, they are exotic and fairly difficult to obtain without synthesizing them. I don't know what color that you want, but there is a lot of places on the web that can tell you about the colors and the EL materials that emit these colors.
