Electrical schematic assistance request

I've got the following schematic:

I'm just wondering what all the symbols and abbreviations mean.

I've worked out what the T1/T2 business is.
But what are the red crosses? And the short-thick black bars between circles, and the difference between circles with triangles on them and small squares?

Also what are the M things in-line with the connections?

Sadly, this thing didn't come with any kind of legend, and I've not seen this type of schematic before.
