Electric Problems with Monitor and Probably Computer

My monitor goes fuzzy everytime my microwave/fridge/insert high power device runs. Obviously this is not good for my little PC! Since they don't run all the time, is there something I can buy that it will run off of a battery till the power comes back (it lasts for a sec or two)?

I was thinking a UPS but I want one that is always running off of the battery and not a failover one, I prefer APC ones. Any ideas?

Your monitor goes fuzzy? Does your computer reboot or crash too?
Try plugging your monitor into a different circuit and/or moving it to another area in the house.

Well my computer has frozen somewhat (usually I just get a app crash of blue screen, only now has it just froze (almost like when it overheats and stops responding). I will try to run to another outlet but I know it does it when the microwave turns on.

What you're describing could be a power quality problem, but you might want to see if the fuzziness is a result of electromagnetic interference. How close are these devices to your monitor? If they are immediately adjacent, then I'd try moving them away first just to see if the fuzziness goes away. Otherwise the 1-2 second time frame (assuming it starts when the device starts) sounds like it could be due to the voltage dip caused by current in-rush. This dip is normally far to small (especially for non-motor loads like your microwave) to affect the DC voltages in your electronic devices. Just what kind of power system are you plugging into?
