What the CRAP

About a week ago I discovered that the a/c air filter was NASTY. I assume the bill is related to the a/c having to run ALL the time to cool the apt since no air was getting through..

how much electricity does a running computer use??? (400w p/s, p4 2.8ghz ht)

My 1600 sq. ft. townhome ran me $140 two months ago with the A/C going constantly as the fan motor was going out (took them forever to replace it) and my 5-6 PCs running (selling one and soon to sell another, though.)

that's it? $120 is cheap.. we used to get bills around $180! 5 computers on all the time, AC on all the time, 3 tv's pretty much on all the time, 1 fridge, and 2 mini fridges.

Use the fan, replace all bulbs with mini fluorescents, and get an LCD monitor. I halved my bill by doing that.

Is it an estimate?

Our bills average about $75 this time of year. That's with running the air about 15% of the time. It is a 1400 sqft. home with natural gas for heating and everything else electrical.

your computer on 24/7 costs about 10 dollars a month, if your monitor is on some of the time, add 3-5 for that too

I have about 700 sq ft, and my bill runs about $60 in the summer. I keep the place pretty cool though. I have a hard time finding a good in between temperature though... Either it is too chilly or to warm for my tastes, but I tend to keep it on the chilly side. I also run a single computer 24/7, but with an LCD monitor.

The winter is what really sucks. I have electric heating (not gas) and my bills in the winter are NUTS.

Our last one was $150. I think we're about 1800 square feet. Keep it at 74 and it's been insanely hot outside.
