So what's the deal with Bloomberg? He spent 10 times what the opponent spent, of his own money, and only won by a few points? Funn,y but not what I really care about. I heard mention that he lobbied to remove term limits so that he could run again this time around. If true, then to hell with him.

Why don't I like him, even though I don't live anywhere near New York? Because that asshole has come into my state to lobby for pro-gun control candidates, and has brought lawsuits against Virginia gun stores for guns that were used in crimes in New York. Rot in hell, Bloomberg!

so which one of the mouth breathers from here called into the lou dobbs show today. turned my radio to the station that carries it just before leaving work to get the traffic report, and some idiot called in complaining that this election didn't mean anything "cause virginia is a right wing state". when he asked the caller about the last democratic senator VA elected the caller responded with "they're righties and george allen is their senator". lol, so precious.

Damn, the repubs are really desperate for some good news, I guess when GOP wins are so few and far between you guys have to party like its 1999 when you get one:)

Seems that way. I don't think these minor elections (nationally speaking, they're almost entirely irrelevant) have anything to say one way or the other about the larger political picture. I think what can be fairly said is this :

Obama and the Democrat majority has indeed disappointed a lot of people, either a little bit or a lot. That has resulted in lower polling numbers for the (D)'s.

The Republican base has gone absolutely apeshit insane over losing power, and are stark-raving lunatics about it. The twenty-percenters are out in force right now, and if the independents stay home and the democrat base remains deflated, that could spell trouble come '10 and '12.

On the flip side, most of the sane portion of the country remembers what a disaster the Republicans presided over during their recent reign of terror. Being disappointed in the Dems doesn't automatically equal going happily to the (R) camp. More likely it means disenfranchisement from the political arena and just staying home on election day, unless the economy turns around.

If the economy heads north before the next election cycle, the (R)'s might as well stay home. If the reverse happens, and the economy still sucks, the (D)'s are getting tossed out. People WILL vote with their pocketbooks this time around.

Ark, Democrats are losing seats next year no matter what happens.
If the economy stays bad it could be a slaughter, but even if the economy improves they will lose seats.

History works against them, every President losses seats during their first off year election..

The Dem's just seem to have a majority, and then squander any opportunity because of stupid shit.
