SO this is the longest maintenance i've seen. They overshot it by a mile. Was going to be up at 11cst, now the update says "Latter this evening". rofl

How the hell are you guys into Veteran Ranks already? I been playing 4 hours a day of nothing but leveling at almost 20..you guys are going to be bored to hell soon.

This is a second maintenaince today due to some error in the patch earlier this morning on the EU server.

So I guess it also applies for the NA server now its already down.

Leveling is just one of many parts of the game. I tend to see it as training in game mechanics.

VR levels are much much slower. To gain VR10 you will have to do around twice as much as you did to get to 50.

It roughly takes an entire map to get a VR level.

But to level 50 in less in a week..this is not the easiest MMO to level in. That is crazy. I have not even seen the bots that level yet.

Chest farming.

I started running the edges of maps, looking into every nook and cranny, so I could get items to research for blacksmithing. Turns out that opening chests gives lots of experience. I think they nerfed it in a recent patch, because around 25ish, I would get 15% of a level from one Master level chest; now they seem to give around 700 exp around 50, and I haven't checked since becoming a VR.

I've left at least a third of all quests in zones, except Coldharbour, since those chests helped me level faster.

Kind of rushed to VR2, to get out of the populated VR1 zone, and looted about 50 chests in an hour (since not many people around in the VR2 zone).

There are plenty of VR1/VR2 people. As in 1000s.

In VR3 the zone becomes more sparse people wise. But still quite a few.

Also its more than a week. Early access started end of march.

I dont think I have seen any bots. But I do know 1000s of accounts got banned. Including a VR10 I saw in Coldhabour.

Chests, like mobs, gives 0 XP in VR ranks. Unless tied to event etc. I cant imagine people leveling on chests. They give so little and are hard to find/get. And I may have opened 50-60 chests in my time. And you needed something like 145000XP from 49 to 50.

The VR10 I saw in Coldhabour was also one of these. He got rolled so much by NPCs due to the lack of any kind of (later)game knowledge it seems.

One of the cheats was in PvP with player targets that just let you kill them.

Oh I know. I posted about it in this thread previously.

Personally I feel good about my progression. Level 32 last I checked when I logged off last night. I had the 5 day headstart. Been playing only a single character. Not bothering with crafting much except to break down things I am not researching or whites I'm selling. Since my time to play every day is a bit limited, I like to spend as much of that time going through the quests and leveling. I do read all the quests, even if I click through faster than the npc is talking since I can read it faster than they speak out the script. I think in another week or two I'll hit 50.

Bots are crazy now, every dungeon (at least to my level) has abut 10-15 bots just instantly killing boss mobs now. Took me about 5mins to target one other day because killed it to fast :/

Seriously? Wow.

Maybe because I am ahead of the curve I havent noticed. But the Aspect of Agile or something in Betnihk I see farmed. (Because Aspect of Speed is bugged.)

But report the players. And they may be gone very soon.

Are you sure they are bots?

A lot of players, including myself, will sit on a public dungeon boss until I get the 'good' drop from them. Each one seems to drop a specific blue item, and since they usually respawn in like 3-5 minutes, it's not a big deal to farm them for a while.

Those bosses give decent exp, but far less than just killing regular mobs in the same time (while waiting), and the gear isn't that great, that it would sell for thousands of gold. Not sure why anyone botting would even do it.

Those bosses give decent exp, but far less than just killing regular mobs in the same time (while waiting), and the gear isn't that great, that it would sell for thousands of gold. Not sure why anyone botting would even do it.

A lot of them are bots, you can tell easily, they are on a timer and will start swinging just before the mob appears, they never move or do anything different. I thought the new patch today was supposed to nerf these bosses.

/edit there was no change to public dungeon bosses from what i could see

Boss mobs in public dungeons almost always drop a soul gem and every so often drop a good blue. About once every 3 or 4 kills. The farmers are setup to sit there and smack away as soon as it spawns. Like others have said, they have the bosses on a timer and start dropping aoes and swinging seconds before the boss spawns.

If you need a completion the easiest way is to just put 1 point into grand healing in resto staff. Drop the big AoE heal before the boss spawns and you'll get the credit as well as be able to loot. Really not that hard to circumvent the botters to get credit of "helping" with the boss fight.

But yah, many of the players there have names of random strings of characters. Obvious botter names. Report if you want and move on.

What's your leveling approach?
Do you complete the zone even if you out level the zone or do you travel to a new zone as soon as you're the recommended level?

Im still low level (8) and the first is really easy... should I travel elsewhere or complete the quests here?

I do everything in a zone before I move on. And when any stuck quest are fixed I go back and finishes it.

AhMan this sucks!! I loved this game so much at first..but now with 75hrs in and at lvl 26 it already starting to get old

Quest after quest after quest after quest of looongg drawn out quest Once you lose interest in the story...well....what else is there?

I'll cut my play time down and see if that helps...but at this point..its looking like another MMO quit before the first 30days were up.

Yah they are. All have names like Zi Zang, LuLu, GAda, etc. They attack instantly and if you pull a mob near them they all turn and run to it. hehe

Some maybe useful info :

VR zone chests do not give experience, but they DO give experience to skills. I've leveled up skills by doing nothing but looting chests. Good way to get up a new skill, and some gear for deconstruction at the same time.

The PVP skill that gives a run speed increase... get it. It works in PVE, and not only that, if you cast it before mounting, your horse is now Horse Speed + 17%. Huge difference and I use it all the time now.

If you haven't or don't want to try PVP, go do the initial training. It's 3 free skill points and you never have to do any real PVP.

300K into VR2 now (only 600k to go lol). Feeling a bit weak against a lot of enemies, and my gear is all VR2, including blue bow/1h for damage. Thinking I want a char with more AOE.

And, had a pretty fun night tonight playing.

Spammed lfg for world bosses and anchors, and a healer answered. Ten minutes later, had a group of four and we worked for all of those and completed them.

Some of those VR2 anchors were tough, and we were just a PUG... funny how these things work out. Sent friend requests, but only one person accepted so far... So much better to play with other people than solo.

Not going to read this thread, but did this game exceed or met your guy's expectations?

When this game was announced, people were basically saying that this game was destined to fail.

I hope F2P will befall this game soon.

Ok have few questions for you guys, I have been playing SWTOR for the last six months and seems to enjoy it but I wouldn't mind a different mmo to change my taste for the time being.So how is the class story(I like this aspect in SWTOR very much) and how easy is to find groups to do group level conenet? how is the endgame pvp and pve? and finally how is the combat, does it feel fluid and smooth?(somehow es series always felt a bit clunky to me) lots of questions so take your time.

Combat is smooth. There is no class story, its main story.

Finding groups is extremely easy with their tool.

PvP is great for now, but else hard to say on endgame will be as such sofar. But it looks promising.
