Einstein said time was relative but time has stopped for my laptop.

I did not know a computer's clock can fail completely. It is strange to see your BIOS clock stuck, seconds not updating at all.

From what Ive read the internal clock which is integrated in the chipset has failed. It loses time when the computer is on and running so its not the CMOS bat (which I already replaced). It will need a new mobo (found on Ebay for $60 shipped).

The clock does work in Windows and I use a program that continually syncs with a time server so its not that bad. Otherwise its fully functional. But I think I will probably sell it for parts and buy a slightly newer one with the proceeds. Ive no interest in modern laptops with their stupid 16:9 displays.

I hear ya. This computer is 6 years old, and the ones I am interested are about 5 years old. From 2009 forward everything went down hill for laptops.

This one is not bad for what I do, it has 3gb, a T7200 and even the original battery holds an hour charge on power saver settings.

Considering I won it from Wells Fargo back in 2006, I have no complaints at all. :)

You're in the market for a 3 year old laptop? Don't get me wrong, mine is from 2008 (the original unibody aluminum Macbook) but I think I'd go with something a little newer if it died :)

The 13" Macbook Air is incredible. Even if you don't like OSX and want to use Windows, it's a great machine. I'm not a fanboy by any stretch, but I will continue to buy Macbooks.

I still think a highend T60 was the best laptop ever made. It blows my mind that they don't make 4:3 laptops anymore. The form factor is just so much better.
