Ehh, What's Up In Nashville Doc?

Judging from the significant damage radiating out several blocks in the pics I've seen I'm going to guess this RV wasn't loaded with xmas presents.

My xmas wish is that this went off in the face of whoever may be responsible.
I would hope that the responsible person(s) are the only casualty. From an early NYT story, it sounds like some are being evacuated from their homes in the area, which really sucks given 2020 had already been such a shitty year for people.

Reporting is a report of a suspicious vehicle was called in. When the bomb squad was en route it exploded. An officer who responded initially was the one to request.
Almost sounds like it was done to target police/government.

Only 3 people injured. I suspect somebody was trying to make a point, not start World War 3.

Not a good video:

The few pictures I've seen don't show mass destruction. Lots of windows blown out and reportedly one buidling collapsed or partially collaspsed, but nothing like we've seen from other vehicle bombs.

Bits surfacing about audible announcements coming from the vehicle.
It was just a looped message of “if you can hear this message, evacuate now.” My guess would be that was from the police as they’d already alerted the bomb squad before the explosion.

Edit: well maybe not. Reports saying it was a countdown 15 minutes prior to the blast and also announced the presence of a bomb. Whoever did this really didn’t want victims but to make a statement if that’s the case.

This might be that new brand of white collar terrorism then? Definitely not Radical Islamist terrorism. Our collective concern meter is still directly correlated with the amount of melatonin in the perp’s skin though.

Surprised you haven't blamed Trump yet.

Whoever did it was obviously trying to make a statement. Not very effective if no one knows who it was or why it was done.

First shot here shows Hooters and the main scene appears to be about a half block or less from there. Street View makes that right outside AT&T's doorway, whatever that means, or doesn't.

Side thought few think about that haven't been part of the system. While the uniforms were working their normal shifts, all of the investigators and specialists were home. An awful lot of people got phone calls to report for duty quickly.
