Sunday night I noticed the headlights were turning off and on by themselves without the key in the ignition. (Actually noticed when standing in my living room looking out the window)
I opened the car and moved the dial from auto to off for the headlights and thought it was awonky light sensor.
Fast forward to today and this morning, the keyfob wouldn't unlock the car. I thought the lights might have come back on and drained the battery.
I jump in to open the hood and I put the key in to see how bad the battery is. No chimes nothing. For shits and giggles I tried to start the car and it starts right up.
Here's the problem. The radio won't turn on. The AC won't turn on, windows don't work. signal lights and headlights don't work. All the idiot lights on the gauge cluster are stuck on. Display panel shows Service Advancetrak, Tire Pressure Monitor system malfunction (even though I don't have that option), even the power seats don't work.
So now my 3 month old car is at the Ford dealer getting looked over. They didn't find it funny when I told them to bring in a VW mechanic to look at the electrical system.

Was it a 2010 or 2011 model?

Good luck with it. My dad's 1994 F150 had electrical gremlins. Electrical stuff would... just stop working. No odometer/spedometer/air. Even the automatic transmission shifting sucked - was like a manual speed shifting. Then, everything would be fine. Dealer couldn't figure it out.

My brother bought a F550 a few months ago. He has been able to put 20 or so miles on it. The miles came from picking it up and immediately dropping it off at the dealer for a vast variety of problems.

Yea most problems will/should pop up in the first couple years of owning it. So get them worked out and hopefully its not a long term issue.

Just got the call from the dealership. Something about a module being bad? Will be picking the car up after work. I couldn't talk them into swapping in a 5.0 into my 2010.

My fiance's car (2008 jetta):

-Replaced both headlights and all brake lights <40,000miles
-replaced whole stereo module (plastic started to separate and crack in multiple places)
-replaced rear defroster (burned-out)
-re-wrired FM radio antennae because of static interference and interference from defroster
-replaced steering wheel wiring; audio controls stopped working

This is at 45,000 miles!!! And she babys the car, but will buy nothing but VWs. *sigh*

My 2009 Z (18 months old, and I have had it a year longer than she has had her Jetta): 0 service visits outside of oil changes.

Just got another call from the dealership.
Ford had called them back and told them not to release the car as they were not sure the "fix" would solve the problem permanently. Off to get a loaner now. :(

Actually alot of 94 F-150's had that shifting issue and I think Ford just never bothered or lied and said they couldn't fix it.

IMO that's pretty impressive of Ford. I wonder how this problem is tracked, I believe they're the ones that have some sort of automated system that notifies the assembly line?
