i currently have 4 bios files for the 6800LE available in my thread. (scroll up to find the link)
my LE-GT bios is the best one so far.
1.4v file is stock gpu voltage, 1.5v file is also available for higher OCing.

I disagree. I think these failed the Ultra tests. Why? Because an unproportionally high number of us have received defective cards.

Mine can't even run at stock speeds for a day. That tells me they ran it through a quick test at the lower speeds and shoved it in the box.
 
There is nothing unusual here. Remember the 9500np ati that could be modded to a 9700,
remember the 9800 np that modded to a 9800 pro? these were all on the same board. Maybe the memory was not up to par or the gpu. this did not always work but in the beginning they did.

i had a 9500 that would not mod but i had a 9800 that would, although I had a little slower memory(meaning it would not clock as high)

The highest stable speed of mine is 410 (with this bios) which means it did not make the grade and was rejected. (I'm sooooooooo Glad
 
In my opinion, I think eVGA is selling these cards for a low low price because: 1. These limited edition cards did fail the 6800U stress test (but I don't think there is any serious failure on these cards), and eVGA just want to grab some cash for covering the cost of manufactoring them. 2. eVGA is trying to clean up their current 6800U inventory ASAP because the upcoming new 6800U features the new SLI technology (let your run 2 6800U in 1 comp at the same time). Once the new 6800U comes out, no one will buy the current non-SLI 6800U anymore.
 
What's a good program to monitor my psu? I'd like to have some idea if my Enermax 350W will need an upgrade or not. Not really money I was hoping to spend, but it's better than a burnt card.
 
people who have removed the stock HS have stated that the chip says Ultra on it. When these chips are speed binned they are marked after they are graded. These could be 6800Ultra assembly line rejects after they are put on a board and tested, thats why some have seen two types of thermal paste on them, and they have the Ultra cooler.

I don't think they were rejected for GPU problems, I think it was for something else.

Why would you be affraid?

They retail for $40, i got in a on deal where i got 2 shipped to my door for $34. Name brand isnt everything. This thing is heavy and has a huge heatsink in it. Stats are here for it

Actully my firend is using the other one i got because his Antec true power 330 was have problems holding stable voltage and his 9800pro was having slowdown problems.

It runs fine for me, i have my card running at 360/1100 with no problems or slowdowns. I am not home right now or else i would have more testing on my rig. BTW with voltage monitoring everything is rock solid. I guess i just got a good deal like the rest of the people with thier evga 6800LE.

If i had to buy one now i would get the 550W since it has 22A on the 12v line. Only problem is that since it has 4 fans it is a little loud. Well. Spend your money how you want, i like getting good deals.

magwa22 it's not the money but the crappy 12 volts rails given by those that tend to be cheaper. Your's is'nt bad at all for $15 but still 18A is not really much margin for error or overclocking. also these power ratings are measured at almost freezing temps and drop big time inside a case with elevated temps. Just wait till you apply some real current to it like 3dmarking or gaming with the 6800 and have system failure..hopefully nothing fries.

all modern processors and Vid cards draw from the 12V and combined with case fans and HDD's can easily exceed the bogus 18A rating. Crash. Then you think something else is wrong with your system when it's in fact the PSU.

I've had it happen... fried both antec and a koolmax before I discoved 12V rail was too low for my setup, after reading WTF was wrong. Here:

IMO Need at least 25A 12v for heavy loads and OCing. Which is why when people ask I'll recommend Zippy/emacs, enermax, OCZ and a few other brands and that's it. They have high specs and are built to last and for enthusiasts.

The one above I linked is only $45!! No one can complain about that with the power it's giving. The enermax 350 is only $55 and gives a 26A 12 Volts rail.

nVidia does not make the cards IIRC...they design them and other companies like eVGA make them. Otherwise nVidia could make them and sell them. Therefore eVGA has no complaint with nVidia on this issue. Of course I could be wrong and the world could be completely different. Who cares anyway it's a good deal.

I am curious as much as anyone else as to why these are so cheap. Someone must have a contact at eVGA that can give us the scoop (maybe after we've bought them all so they don't scare us away).
 
How many of you flashed this card without problems? I just ordered one but I still have fresh in my mind the miss-write that took place with my 5900U and killed it 🙁
 
i just flashed it to 6800 GT 1.4 V
tryed 400 GPU so far and seems stable

and the temp issue seems to not apply in 1.4v

Why hasn't ANYONE gotten excited about the Dual DVI!?! Its the only reason why I even bought this card! Only $600 ultras offer dual DVI!
 
I just OCed to 420/1100 with GT 1.4volt BIOS

No artifacts, Ran 3dmark05 and 3dmark03 with all latests versions
3dmark05 = 5,219
3dmark03 = 12,096

No. There are several cards that offer dual DVI. Some 6800GTs come with dual DVI also.
 
Mine flashed great so far at 425/1100. 3dmarkXX, Doom3, etc all run perfect.

Heres my 2 cents:
They are cheap to cover costs. Its a limited edition, not a whole lot will be sold. If you want something stable at a certain speed, you test it above that speed for stability. If it holds at the higher speed, you know it will be rock solid when run at its stock speed. This helps prevent problems down the road. The few that dont meet your standards are sold off at reduced profits, but they still make money. It should be cheaper to sell off the ones that dont make it, reduce their standards, and call them limited editions. Then have to deal with all the returns/issues/emails/phone calls/complaints/wasted customer service from problematic ultras. It also helps give your company a higher reputation for a quality product. You still make money and increase PR, its win win. Enough ranting for now🙂
 
what tutorial and method do you guys use to flash? I used nflash on a bootable CD, my first video bios flash ever failed and killed the card. i'd love to flash this card to an ultra and never touch it again if possible(after OCing with software proves its possible) but i'm still very weary.

the way it sounds in here is that no one has had a single problem flashing? Anyone in South Boston willing to oversee my flashing? I'll buy you lunch 🙂
 
Its pretty hard to kill a video card when flashing it. You can always boot the computer using an old pci card and reflash the agp card.

thread. Page 3 has a guide like your looking for. Im in the boston area but am antisocial and lazy. I think its more lazy then anything else🙂

oh, see, when the misflash took place with the 5900U every PC i put it in wouldn't post. it was royally messed up. i tried to reflash it but no dice.
