570 doesn't divide well by any of the main bus speeds.

I don't know about this.

Even after searching all over AMDs website, tech docs, etc...the fastest K6-2+ they acknowledge is 550Mhz.

Yeah it does...

AMD is kinda cool like that. They really tried to use the SS7 platform to it's max..

Since multiplier 2x remaps to 6x, 2=6x95MHz = 570MHz.

It wouldn't really surprise me if they released such a chip, we just never heard about it since the K6 was dead.

Geez. I have a 550 K6-2 sitting here doing absolutely nothing. It's a whole computer too, just no monitor/keyboard/mouse.

Best game it could play was Unreal Tournament. Smooth too. :)

Really? Upgrading is soooo cheap now...why? ;)
I don't know.. I just never did it..

When I had a job, I upgraded other things.. got the CDRW(first drive with Burnproof.. was 300 bucks when I bought it.. Plextor 12/10/32A).. 3x128mb ram.. was 200$ back then(66$/stick).. and the IBM Deathstar 75GXP was about 280$ back then(Yeah, it's amazing it's still alive after 3 years, I know.. but it is.)

I had kinda lost interest in the computer, was spending my money on other things.. Then I got laid off, and just have never had the money to do so. Well, I guess that's not true.. I've had the money to do so a few times, but I had more important things to spend it on.

Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade by the end of the summer. It's sad, too.. the reason I'm looking at all this stuff, is I've had the upgrade itch.. but not enough money to really do it. :p Plus, my computer has become unstable in the last few months.. random reboots, and then it doesen't count memory fully, even after a cold reboot. :Q Very strange. It doesen't seem to be the memory, so I've decided that my Epox MVP3G-M is crapping out.

So I bought an Epox MVP3G2(came with a K6-2/500 that I'll probably just resell) off ebay for like 30 bucks. I'll probably install it tomorrow and see how things go. Sad to spend money on such an outdated computer.. Heh.

I think all the K6-x+'s are 2.0v..

I still have my epox mvp3c2 and k6-2+/450 sitting in a box, the value of the cpu has actually went up since I bought it.

He's throwing away faster technology.

Ah, I forgot about their 95MHz stuff.

Yep...it was of no use to me. I think I have a Slot A Athlon 850mhz and KA7-100 motherboard due to be tossed as well. The CPU is probably fine, but the mobo is a bit flaky...probably due to the leaking caps near the CPU slot.

Edit:

No worries guys. I have a few things here Eli might be able to use... :)

Because I'm still using Socket-7 and it's supposed to be the fastest S7 cpu made. :D

I may have an outdated system, but I'm still a computer hardware enthusiast.
