Egg Nog

I've never made it at home. Bought some from Harris Teeter last night, but isn't as good as Wawa Eggnog.

I usually buy it from the store, but I want to make it myself this year. Anyone have a good recipe?

Since moving to Indiana from south Jersey, I miss Wawa the most 🙁

I hear ya. I didn't move that far, but when I drive up to visit my folks, I pass like 5 Wawas after I get off the turnpike. I've never not stopped for a sandwich.

I don't have the family recipe handy, but this one is close. Even more traditional recipes call for long cooking times...this usually makes it even better. No need to add brandy or rum until it is served (if at all).

You can trust about any recipe that calls for separating the eggs first; that's the real stuff.

If you've never had real homemade eggnog, you will be amazed.

Enjoy, it's well worth the effort.

What alcohol is best mixed in egg nog? I know brandy is classic, but rum is also used. Anyone use captain morgan? I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

I had some homemade Egg Nog last week that had both rum and brandy in it. It was sublime.

Store bought Egg Nog is disgusting.

Well right now I have some of the grocery store stuff I bought last night with some Kahlua in it. Delicious.

Hmm, maybe I should try making some next week while my parents are out, although I don't know if they keep rum/brandy/etc around.

I'm really liking the nog with Captain Morgan Tattoo - its got that extra kick of spices and rum that makes it really yummy when warmed. No point in using anything too expensive...

Last time I made homemade eggnog I put in Courvosier Cognac and some boubron whiskey, can't remember who made the whiskey. It was good stuff though.

I am a fan of eggnog, but I've only had store-bought and I have no idea what brand it was.

I shall get some on Christmas. Mmm, eggnog.

I went to the store to get some but they had run out. Nooooo

I can't get enough of the Southern Comfort brand of "Vanilla Spice" egg nog. Tastes great alone or with a little somethin' somethin'.

I once bought Southern Comfort Egg Nog. It was quite nice. I haven't seen it again since 1995.

I love egg nog but have never had home made.

I just get whatever brand is in stock at my local grocery store.
