I agree with everyone else, suspend it.

That isn't cushioning exactly (pillow, etc). Fvck, if you can't suspend it, then what COULD you do?

Geez havent you guys done this in your HS physics classes before? We had to. You don't need to suspend it. You just need a cone, and you're done. Make sure there's stuff sticking out That way the cone wont topple over when it falls down.

No, but my sister had do it in one of her college classes. Sure you don't have to suspend it, but worked for her. However, she did it in a different way than most people here have suggested.

She made a cube out of balsa wood (no sides, just edges) and attached a peice of pantyhose to the top and to the bottom, but she did it in a way so that the egg could be held between the two.

It worked IIRC. She still has it.

Edit This was an error

I was thinking a strong flexable multisided frame, cubic or otherwise, with the egg supported in the middle but a dozen or so large rubber bands. Maybe using K'NEX and fusing the ends somehow. Then, to make sure it doesn't land straight on a corner (and thuse break it), you could put a tail or some type of drag object on an end so a whole face of the frame hits the ground at the same time.

Technically you're not dropping the egg.

Sure you are dropping it. What happens next is out of your hands. You can't be held responsible for the weakness of gravity and its inability to pull the balloon to the ground.

thats letting go of it, not really dropping it. i dont think its considered dropped unless it hits the ground. and eventually doesnt really count

well its kinda simple if you could just put the egg on a pillow and drop it....
