I am looking to get a new rig, and am wondering about how I am going to address an issue with one of the games I am going to play, Armed Assault. This game is notorious for being totally incompatible with a lot of things, but there has been an established workaround as well as fixes in the beta patches, so I am confident I can get it to run on my new system. Anyway, in order to run this game, you need to have less than 4 GB of RAM. Here is what I am talking about:
How to Get Armed Assault to Run
Basically I am wondering how doing this everytime I want to run ArmA will work with an overclock. I am an overclocking newb, but I was under the impression that getting a stable overclock depends on how much RAM you have?
If I were to overclock with 8 GB of RAM and get that completely stable, would I be able to do the fix listed here (set RAM to 3GB and reboot), and still be stable? Any potential downsides to this?
