Well, the manufacturing plant I was working in shut down operations and moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. 750+ lost their jobs.

It's ironic how Americans want to go to Mexico, while Mexicans are dying to get into America.

We don't want to go to mexico, we just want things to be priced like they were made in mexico.

What these companies don't figure is that if all the jobs move to mexico.....who in the U.S. is going to have a F#@*$ job to be able to purchase these products???? Certainly not the mexicans....they don't get paid anything!

I hate to say this, but this is economics at work. In a global marketplace, the lowest bidder wins - especially when dealing with fungible goods. What did your plant produce?

The only people who benefit from globalism are the corporate big wigs. They move jobs away from the US to Mexico so that they can pay their workers less. The American people suffer because they lose jobs. The Mexican workers suffer because they will be paid a low subsistence wage. The corporate fat cats prosper because they now have more money to stuff their fat wallets with. This is why you should vote for the Reform party or the Green party based upon whether you are right or left wing, because as far as i know, both parties are against this crap.

I wait for the day you lose your job to a Mexican field worker.

Its alot more fun when we get to exploit globalism for our own gain but not when other countries do. 🙁

Free markets kind of suck, that is unless its free for us and costs only others. 🙂

ummmmmmmm, yeah buddy. Nice show of class there in your post. Very intelliegent observation on your part. Fvckin' Moron.

Some people are concerned that the wealth in the US is too disproportionate to the rest of the world.

My question is, what are we doing wrong that the rest of the world has any?

Don't forget PNTR which has almost destroyed all industry in the United States. So next time you go to the store whether it be ChinaMart (a.k.a. WalMart) or somewhere else, look for the "Made in the U.S.A." sticker and don't buy slave goods.

I'm not worried thanks though. 🙂 See someone where you are from already posted in support of you!

If a low-waged Mexican field worker can do you job for a fraction of the price, perhaps you should get a better education or more skills. if the destruction of your job provides 6 more jobs in another country, in economics that's called creative destruction and that is a good thing

i bet less than half the computer components sitting infront of you is remotely made in the US, in fact more likely 95% of it isnt

Its was an extremely facetious comment, sorry if it offended anyone or it wasn't obvious to them.

It seems that many americans want the affects of globalization and not the sacrifices. Fact is Labor is a commodity, and if we price ourselves out of the market, then it will be bought elsewhere and should be.

People often say we work hard for our wealth so we deserve what we get, while at the same time wanting to be protectionist to prevent others from having the opportunities we have. Thats wrong.

I believe in globalization, altho the problem that I have with it is how corporations exploit the lack of governmental regulations in other countries regarding reprehensible treatment of labor practices and environment in order to maximize profit. There are other issues to but thats the gist.
