This thread is about how Ted Cruz is a total dick. I will start things off with exhibit 1:

The Republican senator Ted Cruz complained on Sunday that Joe Biden’s promise to nominate a Black woman to the supreme court was an instance of racial discrimination.

“This administration is going to discriminate,” Cruz insisted. “What the president said is that only African American women are eligible for this slot, that 94% of Americans are ineligible.”

The Texas senator’s host, Bill Hemmer, did not point out that justices have been chosen on grounds of identity before.

Zero complaint about ACB being a woman after Trump pledges to nominate a woman. Then when Biden pledges to nominate a Black woman it's discrimination. Screw this roach. He does not deserve to hold office.

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul are both examples of why representatives shouldn’t be able to draw maps and pick their voters/donors. Nobody likes them. Nobody. Even the Republicans that vote for them would rather have someone else in that spot. But once they get a few terms in and build that special interest cash machine, it’s damn near impossible to get rid of them.

When I look at and think about Ted Cruz I feel terrible pain. I see a person so lost he has lost any sense of what it is to be real. I see a person who lives a life of hopeless pain unaware of his inner state. I am also extremely angry that the world is such that it produces people like him, and for that I feel in part to blame. He and others like him make it impossible to really be happy in this world.

He fled to Cancun during Texas power crisis, instantly making Texas a better place. Too bad he didn't stay in Cancun.

He knows how to talk a lot of shit. I've met several Texans in my life and I believe they love talking shit almost as much as they love politicians who talk shit.
And thats the GOP's modus operandi right now and it works great. Run your mouth. Threaten. Insult. Blame. Promise. Get elected. Do nothing. People love you.
Repeat ad infinitum.

Even here here in Texas there really isn't all that much enthusiasm for him other than that he's an R. When the absolute high water mark of your popularity in a state you should easily win every time is simple recognition that you exist maybe you ought to trim the sails of your political ambition. That would take self awareness though...

Leave it to go to Cancun. Too bad they didn't lock the door.

Ted and other Republicans are just upset Biden will nominate a black woman. That's their real problem. Fox News had that interview and didn't ask the follow-up about Regan and Trump promising women.

He talks about owning the libs. That's enough to get 51%+ of the vote in most areas nowadays.
Now you don't ACTUALLY have to own the libs, you just have to talk about it. Oh and swear that CRT will not be allowed in the classrooms!

the problem is both cruz and paul are senators so even if gerrymandering were eliminated it wouldn't affect them getting elected, those are state wide offices.

Several in congress have stated that Ted Cruz is the most miserable pathetic POS they have ever seen. So basically, Texas tax payers are paying yet not getting their money's worth. If Ted were a car he would traded in on a model that actually functions.

Finding a bullshit reason to stop Biden's pick is SOP for the Repubs and Cruz has appointed himself to be one of their attack dogs to do just that. Sow doubt, suspicion, hate and fear. It doesn't matter who Biden nominates, the Repubs will simply have their talking point factory make shit up, have FOX and their other social media propaganda outlets spread the lies and innuendo for effect.

Cruz, like many other Repubs in office are following this tried and true recipe for scoring political points with their working class voters because they don't have anything of real value that they can point to as a reason for them to get elected/reelected.

Winning in every way possible including whatever's dirty, low down, ethically and morally reprehensible is fair game for the Repubs at this point in time and they've only themselves to blame for their predicament. I mean, when you have to sidle up to the nation's racists, religious fundie reactionaries and other sundry hate groups to win elections, it should tell you that something's really wrong with your ideology, methods and policies. Being loyal has its limits but it seems the Repubs have tossed that aside in favor of creating a fascist state that can suppress the desires of the majority of the nation's peoples.

Now that NS2 has been shut down because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, does that mean Cruz will STFU and let Biden's nominations be voted in on the senate?

It's all for optics, if Biden had nominated a white old man Cruz would still call him a racist.

Cruz is just rallying his fascist base, as he does.
