I've seen videos of tigers jumping up onto tree branches, and they have good coordination with their paws. I just can't see it missing that easily. I think the tiger was just pissed that someone entered its territory and wanted to scare them away.

I saw it on a long nature show clip. The clip is out there, it wasn't too long ago that I saw it.

Tigers rarely attack elephants (elephants calves at the most).

Nobody can ride African elephants. They are very aggressive and cannot be trained.

So with this particular clip, the tiger dragged the guy off of the elephant, then the female elephant crushed the tiger and saved the mans life - I believe he had to have his leg amputated though."

1. That's not Corbett Nat'l Park. Corbett is hillier (near Almora and the Himalayan foot hills). It's possibly Kaziranga Nat'l Park in Assam

2. Indian forest rangers drive Maruti Gypsy's. Only forest guides use elephants.

3. However wrote that female tigers attack livestock, humans, etc is talking out his ass. If u read any of Jim Corbett's books (Corbett Nat'l Park is named after him), most tigers who turn into maneaters are males, who are passed their prime and injured / wounded / diseased. Female tigers are more reclusive than males.

4. I've never heard of elephants being trained to defend against tigers and I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I'm not buying that story at all. First, I don't think an elephant is nimble enough to cat a tiger under its foot, even if the tiger was on the ground. Second, if the elephant stood on the tiger's neck, it would most likely break it. Why would it let it go and then they somehow capture it?

That story is a bit far fetched.

And it worked.

not really. and actually he THREW the stick at the tiger just before it leapt and missed but it didn't deter him one bit. the tiger just wasn't able to jump that high.

He didnt throw the stick - he threw the elephant prod, a metal bar with a blunt hook at one end
