Who invited YOU in?
You know, as much as I hate and fear spiders, you gotta admire this guy's ingenuity. Normally, you wouldn't find this kinda spider inside your home. This guy somehow managed a way in and realized he couldn't build his typical funnel-web/trap door setup inside (kinda hard to dig up those hardwood floors.) But what does he stumble across?? Aha, an air duct!! Perfect for a funnel web! I was actually doing some cleaning when I came across the web. Wasn't sure if it was occupied or not (spider wasn't up top at the time) so I went outside, found a hapless potato/roley-poley bug, took it inside and dropped it onto the web. Even before I realized the sucker had landed on the web, Mr. Wolf shot out from the vent and pounced on his victim. At first he was confused (the bug had rolled into a ball) so he stepped backwards and observed his prey. Mr. Potato Bug foolishly opened up on his backside...exposing his many wriggling legs and making every effort to right himself up (and tugging all those web strands that say 'EAT ME' in the process.) Mr. Wolf again pounced on his victim, this time with a target his teeth could penetrate. By the time I got my digicam out, he'd already rolled up his pray and respun his web.
WARNING! CLOSEUP SHOT!
