Eek! Cpu overheating!

Based on a few recommendations I installed cooling setup THERMALRIGHT SK-6 w/ the quiet PANAFLO 80mm fan. For some reason, the CPU temp was at like 70-72 degrees C. Did I do something wrong? Which way should the air flow? Away from the CPU or into the CPU? I don't do anything hardcore, and my CPU is a AMD XP 1800+ on W2k, with a Enermax PS.

I didn't use a 80mm adaptor yet, but if this doesn't work, I'll get a fan adaptor...

Will stacking 2 80mm fans on top of each other help?

Thanks!

Peter

Did you use any artic silver? I've got a similar setup: XP1800+, SK-6, 80 Panaflo and I have the fan set to suck from the heatsink.

I used Arctic Silver II like everyone else... it pushes, I'll try pulling to see what happens.

* Update - changed the panaflo fan to pull, as well as activated the fan intake from front as well as exhaust from rear. Temperature came down to around 65 degrees normal use, 67-68 degrees under relative load. I still think its kinda high; any suggestions?

I had that problem when I used too much ASII... removing what I had and actually using the edge of a credit card and nothing more brought my temps down like 10 C
