Eee+slimmed down Xp+USB SDTV dongle=portable TV player?

I know the CPU is pretty anaemic, and I understand it's actually underclocked, so will it cope?

Problem is all of the USB-stick sized TV tuners I've seen rely on software mpeg2 encoding, which the eee may not be powerful enough to achieve without sync and dropped frame problems. The larger USB tuners do hardware encoding, but require external power, which sucks. I saw that the eee has a mini pci-e slot, and there are some mini pci-e tv tuners, but I'm not sure if they're hardware or software, and I'm not sure how a/v connectors would be handled.

Might want to ask here.

Ok, so it looks like someone got DVB working with it reliably, so maybe not the pipedream I thought it was.

Now that I think about it, I had an old ATI TV Wonder playing live TV on my old Celeron 300@450 back in the day, I think that was a SW encoder as well, so maybe the requirements aren't as high as I seem to recall.
