EE vs. ET

I'm doing my ET right now but I was wondering if EE was better. I hear some people say it is and I hear other people say they are the same. So what is the deal?

EET? Less math and theory. More hands-on approach. A lot of the classes will probably not be calc-based, at least thats what a EET told me.

Sometimes people start as EE and just get frustrated with all of the formulas and very mathematically-heavy courses. So EET is probably a better fit for them if they just dont enjoy that aspect of EE.

I don't know much else from first hand experience. Also, some EET degrees are only Associates degrees or higher but EE is always Bachelor or higher.

There's three of us at my current job/co-op as EE co-ops. I'm a Computer Engineer, my roommate is an Electrical, and the other is a EET. So they didnt really care there since we can all basically do the same job (tho I tend to do more w/ software guys, my roommate does stuff with hardware more) but then again we are just lowly interns. 🙂

don't do EET.....a friend of mine was tricked that way too "less math, more hands on". Well, a lot of companies won't pay you the same, and that's a fact. And some won't consider you because a lot of people don't know what that degree is.

Don't take that chance with your career.

Well I dont think anyone would say EET is more difficult than EE, and thus the pay is a bit more with EE, but if you really like electronics but hate math, no reason to torture yourself. I believe a lot of smaller companies like EET since they still suit what they need but dont need to pay them the big engineer's wage. Like at my job, I would venture to guess they would like to hire someone like an EET to do testing work (load dump, EMC, ESD, reliability, etc etc) and have the EEs design the stuff.
