I can't seem to find the answer to this question, wondering if anyone knew. What is the advantage of using discrete transistors over op amps for an oscillator?Thanks
 
I guess you could achieve higher frequencies with a simple transistor in the loop than a operational amplifier. I don't think you see very many opamps in RF signal generation.
