Ha. Playing it safe would be buying the index, not losing to it 😉

Any they do. Most active managed mutal funds now so closely mirror the various indexes that there is really no point in buying actively managed funds since most underperform the indexes.

I'm a fan of index but I prefer investing on my own. The fun for me is picking my own stocks. Having someone else do it or buying an index would take away the fun part of investing for me.

Oh it's definitely fun, don't get me wrong. Tracking the news about a company I've got a few thousand in is more fun than tracking a penant chase 🙂
