It's Here and It's Going To Absolutely Rock

By Michael Harvey, Contributor Email

Enjoy Yourself
Getting over your bashfulness, you grab that big fat shift knob, turn it to drive and off you go, and the V8 burbles like the Merlin V12 they used to stuff into Spitfire fighter planes on the same factory site where the XF is built. And then you bury the throttle.

And that's the bit you'll have to wait for. We're not allowed to talk about anything to do with driving this prototype, but let's just put it this way ? it wasn't just the designers who had fun here.

But don't fret. The 2009 Jaguar XF is worth waiting for. It's going to be big.

Doesn't look too terrible, but it doesn't look like a Jag. If anything, it looks like a really big, fat, Saab.

I can't deal with the front end - at all. The headlights remind me of a Monte Carlo, and that's not a good thing. As Arkaign points out, this just looks nothing like a Jaguar.

i never thought of it that way, thanks for ruining it for me, as I really liked the car ;p

and I really hope they offer the 3.5 V6 too.

It looks good, but I remember the show car it is based on as looking cooler than that.

I don't see any Monte Carlo in there.

Check out the headlights.

Maybe a little. The Jaguar has more swept up ends on the sides and the round projectors inside look better. The general shape is roughly similar though. But it still doesn't bother me. So many cars have similar headlights now that it doesn't even matter.

is top gear gonna show it?

how much?

i would expect it to be about the same as S-type pricing, that is, to compete against the 5 series, e class, and GS
