I made it a point not read an Edmund's review. A shame because I mostly agree with them, and they usually publish their full reviews before anyone else.
I tried reading it again today. And they try to be so clever it's painful.

Back on topic, I don't have any love for the Genesis Coupe as far as looks go. But, golly....Hyundai has come a long way in recent years.

Hyundai has come out with some very nice cars of of late; Its a shame people cringe if you tell them you drive one. It seems the initial thought when hearing the name Hyundai is "cheap" both the price and the car quality and most Americans don't consider them when buying.
this

that... looks great in red btw. Anyway, if you have $35k to spend on any vehicle, you may very well consider it on paper, but when it comes down to it, would you actually hand all that hard earned cash to Hyundai considering everything else you could get?

I personally think they should've changed their image with the introduction of that Accord/Camry beater Sonata a few years back. Update their logo... show people change [we can believe in]... something like that could go a long way.

$35K?

this car is supposed to start at about 21k...

From your other Genesis thread it states:
The Genesis 3.8 ($36,000 Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as tested) is powered by a 290-hp, 3.8-liter V6
.

Who in their right mind would get a 36K Hyundai over a similarly priced G37 coupe at that price?
They should aim for 30K for V6, and 25K for I4.

Because a G37 is a compact sedan while the Genesis is full size sedan that is meant to compete with M35/45, 5 series, E class. In some regards (mainly size), it come close to the Q45, 7 series, and S class.

It is a lot of car for only 36k. Reminds me of Lexus when they came out with the LS.

I was talking about the Genesis coupe, not Sedan. Which is another stupid thing. Hyundai's sports car is sharing its name with its old geezer luxo-mobile. Someone in the marketing department needs to be shot. That said, the Japanese underestimate Koreans at their peril, just look at Sony vs Samsung. But Hyundai does not have the brand name to command $36K for Genesis coupe, even compared to Infiniti. Its selling point is the value proposition, so it has to underprice the G37 coupe by similar margin that Genesis sedan underprices the M45.

Hyundai continues to impress me as of late. Normally, I wouldn't be caught dead even thinking about driving/owning one, but after their last few new models' reviews these past few years, I'd say that they would deserve a shot from anyone.

Too bad about the 2.9 i4 though. That kind of displacement in a 4-banger in a RWD setup would be insane to soup up and/or repair. Maybe this "misprint" will inspire a few engineers over there...?
