I posted in this in the apple forum; no responses. Sorry for posting twice! Maybe I'll have more luck here...

I have a lengthy (1 hour plus) video, MP4 format, that I would like to edit into 15 minute clips so they can be uploaded to YouTube. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do this with iMovie. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Import clip into iMovie as an event
Create sufficient projects in 15 minute intervals (Select, drag and drop each 15 minutes or do into its own project)
Export each project into iTunes. You will have a separate mp4 file for each project once done
Upload each project using YouTube uploader

I dont have a MAC I have a PC, therefore I use AVS4YOU. If I were using that, I would simply cut it at the 15 min points, delete the rest and save each segment. Admittedly Ive only worked with videos less than 15 mins long so I dont know if this is a hardware problem causing a system crash for you or something like that.

Glad you got your answer. I bet the All Things Apple forum would have worked, though.

Still 0 Replies in that forum.

So Off Topic was your best option?

Digital and Video Cameras sounds more like it.

Did I mention anything at all about a digital or video camera?

Thanks a lot for your help, jmgonzales. Worked like a charm. 🙂

Haha, "both say video." Fishing much? Reminds me of the Mitch Hedberg thing: "I got into comedy to do comedy. But people think if you do comedy you should be doing everything related to comedy. Like writing a script. Or acting. That's unfair. It'd be like if I worked my ass off to be a good cook, and people said 'ok you can cook. Now farm!'"

Lol, mods you can delete this if you want. Apparently it's really upset some people, haha. Big thanks to the folks who actually helped/talked to me instead of getting their panties in a twist over forum descriptions.
