ok here's a debate....

lets say i have a divx file, which is ofcourse illegal.

now if i transfer it to someone else using AIM, would that be illegal too according to copyright laws etc?

give me some thoughts!

edit: just so you know, i'm not the moron. i'm having an argument with someone who thinks that because someone is sending it over IM and not over P2P its legal.
THEY'RE THE MORON!

Are you really that much of a moron?

I'd think the answer would be self-evident.... Illegal file = illegal to transfer it over IM.

transferring 700+MB of data over AIM seems like the dumbest idea ever

why?

oh nothing really...just p2p, ftp, xdcc, are superior ways of getting large files.

doens't effect me if i'm on a 100mbit network which she's on too, where sending a 700 MB file takes less than 2 minutes.
