Just need leather and a bose system. Nothing else.

By NAV are you all referring to navigation systems?

Ask yousrself a question. Have you ever thought, "I really could use wone of those navigation systems right now."

I havn't and mapquest is FREE of you are going on a trip. NAV systems are total waste of money.

G35 > *

The TL is not a bad car at all, but there simply is no comparison between a FWD car and RWD car especially if you are looking at luxury sports coupes.
However from the pics I have seen of the new TL I prefer the interior of the TL, but in just about every aspect the G35 is a much better car.

As somebody else said, do not even think about getting a BMW 3 series unless it is the 330, then you will be nickled and dimed and probably be way past your budget. The BMW 3 series (with the exception of the M3) are kind of poser badge-buyer cars; many buy them just to say they have a BMW but can not afford a "real" BMW. They are not bad cars, obviously, but for the money you can get a much better car.
Contrary to what many people think, BMW does not have good long term reliabilty. Both the TL and G35 will blow the BMW away in terms of reliability.

5. Good looks (subjective - I know).

TL - close second to a G35 - doesn't have RWD, previous gen's reliability is suspect.

I've thought about buying an 05 6MT G35 on and off, but this is just fanboy talk now.

I have an accord with a TL sway bar, I've driven a G35 sedan before and handling wise you won't notice the difference between FWD and RWD unless you are seriously driving around at the limits.

The G35 has some ghetto things about it. For example, the seats aren't completely power, front/back is power, but not tilt. Navigation system is inferior.

The TL's reliability is not any more suspect than recent nissan/infinitis which have had lots of QC issues. In fact in a recent JD, nissan fell below GM in initial quality.

The TL is also a bigger car.

If the OP is serious about these cars, I'd just drive them all, compare feature list for the money and make your own choice.

I think Lexus has the best quality out of all of them. Beautiful interior materials, but it is for old people IMO. If you just want to cruise in your car without driving fast then the Lexus is for you.

Actually, if you've ever used one, they are very useful. I don't think I would pay 2K for one, but in due time it'll probably fall to a 1K option which is a fair price. I am going to seriously consider one for my next car either way.

The Lexus ES300 is a jazzed up Camry. Besides the badge, they are not even in the same category. The Lexus he was looking at can't even compete with those other cars.

oh I would pick the Acura TL over the G35 Sedan and BMW
better quality, better reliability, better interior.

If you're getting the coupe.. get the spoiler. It's so sexy with the spoiler.. and the 18" wheels.

My dad's 2004 G35C was about $35k about 8 months ago, he got it with the Sport wheels/tires, premium package, leather, trunk mat and I believe the aero package, but he may have just gotten the spoiler. I think he also has the splash guards and the body side moldings. He would've preferred different colors (he has the light silver ext and light leather int), but there weren't many on the lot and he had just given back his 2001 I30. The only thing he's upset about is that he didn't get the Nav. system.

Edit: And the seats aren't power tilt, but I actually prefer it that way. It makes it easier to find my seating position after someone else has driven my car. My Altima's driver's seat is power everything, but whenever my mom drives she messes it up and it takes me a week to find the right spot.

The 2005 G35 seats are completely power.

Also, he would've liked the Nav system because he's a realtor and does a good bit of driving, so he knows the local areas, but when he travels a few hours away to look at property or meet with clients, he occasionally gets lost. He might just pick up a portable GPS unit though, so we can put it in any of our cars.

. . . and if you read the rest of what I wrote, which you did a bang up job of disregarding, I also noted that you can get a better car for the money. If you want a BMW 3 series sized car, you would probably be better of with an Acura or Infiniti.

Concur 100%. If it's not a 5 or 7 series, don't waste your money.

Even worse is seeing people that have the Jaguar X-type ($30K). Those things just kill me.

Personally, I don't have hte expendable income for a "fancy" car and I make good money! Then again, I want an exotic one day so I have to be cheep now.

Subaru Legacy GT.

Another excellent choice... Does anyone have any insight into Subaru reliability these days... I'm usually not a big fan of cars that have turbos/superchargers etc. (purely from a maintenance/reliability standpoint - more moving parts, more complexity) - which is why I haven't given the Legacy GT much thought - but if someone has first hand experience, I'd love to hear about it.

Seems to me that ppl with WRX's are quite satisfied (so long as they don't totally beat on their cars).

I did know that the Nissan quality as a whole as dropped - but that is largely due to the newly released Quest, Titan and Armada lineup. The G35 (IIRC) is still manufactured in Japan at an established plant - and has a very good build quality and reliability record.

I agree with you that the OP needs to drive the cars to get a feel for how he fits into the car and judge the ergonomics for himself. You can't get a feel for comfort, leg room, headroom and overall vehicle/accessory operability without driving the car.

Lots of good discussion so far in this thread.

Dude. The TL looks like a butt chop from the back. Bet you like women with flat butts.

He's entitled to his opinion and you are entitled to your own. No need for that comment.

I wan't a sedan. I drive a 04 civic and wan't a car that has more room in it. The reason I had ES 330 on my list is coz its a bigger car but I guess it just a camry with gizmos. Anyway I love G35 coupes but can't get one coz I need a four door sedan. I like the TL's too,.

I have to cast another vote for the Subaru Legacy GT. 250 hp, AWD, Subaru reliability (the damn things never seem to break), and they look great. If I had my pick of daily drivers, this would be my first choice... with the exception of the Mazdaspeed 6 when that rolls out.
