nah, but I hate it when people on the bus talk loudly into their cell phones. It irritates my peace.

I have full-blown social anxiety and panic disorder, so I think you are pretty normal. :(

Just start the conversation loudly like "that stupid bitch gave me syphillis and crabs and im itchy as hell right now" then fade into what you actually want to talk about.

wuss. It's not like you're going to see any of these people again. Stop living in the past, realise you're now an adult and that most people have difficult times growing up too.

Suck it up, grab your balls and get stuck in. Far too many wimps these days.

Just talk like normal, maybe a little quieter than you usually do because it's pretty quiet and so you naturally don't have to talk as loud trying to overcome background noise. As long as you aren't talking loudly, no one will care.

Why do I picture you as a greasy, spotty, glasses-wearing, annorexic, weakling of a nerd when you type that? I don't know if you're really as "macho" as you are acting in this thread, but it's not convincing and sounds like pure keyboard hero behaviour.

have you tried seeing a therapist to overcome these debilitating psychological issues?

you invest in physical health by seeing your physician when you are sick. You should equally invest in a therabist when you have some major issues like it seems you do.

I was sitting in a waiting room and this cell phone rings. The young girl silences it but it rings again a few minutes later. This older guy sitting behind her was making gestures of disgust. I thught it was rude on his part.

People need to get off this politically correct crap kick and realize that our world is not a sterile environment.

That person offended me. I shouldn't have to look at that. GET OVER IT.

I don't answer my phone on the bus, on trains, or in close-quarters public places because people who do make me want to shove the cell phone so far down their throats that when they fart it rings.

EDIT: I also keep it on vibrate. I have no idea why people think I want to hear [insert obnoxious ringtone here] for 30 seconds while they stare at their phone as though deciding whether or not to answer it.

hmm, I am a nerd and not as buff as I'd like to be, but instead of taking it all to heart and cowering in my room, I actually go out there and try to do something about it. For example, I've recently taken up muai thai kickboxing. I'm the newby who doesn't know anything with scrawny arms compared to the beefy nut jobs who have been doing it for 10 years, but I still go every week. Admitting defeat is just going to make you not want to try next time.

I'm sick of whining goths and emo kids who lay about all the time crying how life is so tough when other people on this planet would literally kill to have to opportunity they have.

I tend not to talk on my cell in public places out of respect (i.e. waiting in line, at fast food joints, resteraunts)....if it's THAT important to take the call I will go outside if possible, if not I'll answer and ask if they're not dying can I call them back. If they don't say "Yeah, I'm trapped in a well and dying" then I call back later.

Maybe, never really considered it before.

But I tend to walk away to where theres no one else around when on the phone out of habit of not wanting to disturb others and for privacy.

My fiancee always thinks I'm trying to hide my conversation from her or something, but it's honestly just a habit.

I see your point, but what are they going to listen to if not to the person on the phone? The soothing sound of the bus/train and traffic? Were you meditating or something? Sure, if you're actively being noisy, brash, swearing and maybe talking about inappropriate activities ("yeah, man, right over the kitchen table!...") then I can understand. But what's wrong with me, say, talking fairly quietly about the latest transmission design I've made for a custom R/C truck or discussing when and where to go for a pint in the evening? How is it more offensive than if my friend was sat next to me?

well if you want to change your life you must get these issues taken care of. they must be holding you back from success and happiness in all areas of your life.

well sure, but most people have a severe problem with talking quietly on a cellphone. apparently covering one ear makes them talk as loud as they freakin can.
