I heard somewhere that is a federal offense?

Plug your ears next time you talk to that person.

Denial Of Service involves more than one PC. Running a continuous ping to a website isn't a federal offense. It's also not going to do jack crap, either.

i figured, since i am away from my pc 99% of the time, i'd let it do something productive. I hate the ppl who run that site. They did think I was fake.

I don't want to get banned, i'm just asking, it's a simple question. Whether i do it or not is my business.

yes, actually.

yes what? Pics were fake or you know how small a packet is.

The default packet size is next-to-nothing, but additional syntax allows the user to specify the size of a packet. It's very possible to send 5MB packets, but it's going to take forever to send it because you have to send 5MB through your internet connection. Most consumer net connections have very very slow upload speeds.

That's packeting and is a Denial of Service thing and is, as Carl would say "very illegal".

It's not a Denial of Service attack. It's just someone running a continuous ping. Now, if you get, say 100,000 people to do it all at the same time, THEN the site *might* go down depending on the domain's hosting services. THAT is a DOS.
