is it possible for the PS2 console to play my legally copied backup PS1 games? does it need a mod like this?

This device is allready on the market and has been for awhile.

We currently have one hooked up to a PS2 and it runs great. Still need the GS or AR to play "backups" of PS2 software, but "backups" of PS1 games are ready to go without additional software. That means, you put it in, hit reset, and you're ready to go.

Here is the one my buddy just recently ordered. Got it running last week and he was playing the Gran Turismo 3 Demo all weekend.
