Think positive. They found a tumor in my 2 month old niece's brain last year. They were able to remove it and she's now 20 months old and healthy.

Hope Modern Science + POP (Power of Prayer) help for a cure and full life ahead for her.

I trully hope nothing but the best. It is just so overwhelming just to hear about it, it's hard to express my emotions.

My prayers are with her and her family. I can't imagine the pain and fear they must have -- nor do I ever want to know what it's like 🙁

Sorry to hear that but maybe this will give you some hope. One of my younger brothers was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1978 when he was around age 16 or so. We were all devastated by the news and according to the doctors the prognosis was bleak. They operated on him and removed as much of it as they could and then he went through the radiation/chemo treatments that were state of the art for 1978-1979. The tumor had been located in an area that affected his optic nerve so his vision was severly impaired from it but other than that he is alive and healthy and cancer free 24 years after it was discovered and removed. Don't give up hope since they have made quantum leaps in the methods they use to treat this stuff today from when he had his in the late 70's

sorry to hear that d00d. My sis has a brain tunour atm as well. is scary stuff, and she has had 2 MAJOR ops on it, and she's still here.

If it was his brother's/sister's daughter, then, yeah.

But, the daughter of a 1st cousin is a "1st cousin, once removed".

Ah I never knew that. In our culture, we think differently 🙂

Man, that's rough. If it's any consolation, my best friends father had to have a brain surgery, wherein they split his brain down the middle. He made a full recovery and suffered no ill effects.
Do not be concerned about her age being a factor either, the art of brain surgery has advanced so far in the last 10 years that it borders on miraculous. If anything, her youth will be an advantage. Kids are amazingly resilient and she is young enough that she won't remember any of it.

Anyway, I'm pulling for her. Best wishes to you and your family as well.

At Georgetown University Hospital where i work we have a $3million dollar radiation treatment machine called the Cyberknife. its got a linear accelerator on a robotic arm and it positions itself in several hundred different angles to treat tumors, such that the tumor gets the most radiation while sparing surrounding tissue. Its main use is for treating immobile lesions in the brain and spine.

Im not sure if atlanta has one as there are only like 7 around the country.

if surgery is risky or not an option at all, Id suggest the Cyberknife.

Sorry to hear, this is sad news. I had a brain tumor removed when I was 6. By the time they had discovered it, my brain was being crushed and I was in lots of pain. I had many episodes of vertigo and it was terrible. It was the size of a golf ball at the time. I suffered a bit of nerve damage after the surgery affecting many motor movements (the tumor was in the cerebellum which they just cut half of it and removal trying not to cut into the tumor. I still suffer from some motor movements / paralysis inabilities and I will have them all my life but I am just glad to be a live. I hope this child is able to come through with a successful removal as I was without too many complications.

nothing can brace someone for a tragedy such as this. There's nothing sadder in the world then seeing someone never get a chance.

My prayers will be with this little girl and her family.... please keep us updated on her situation... Best of luck to your whole family...
