Anyone know why my H/K AVR225 reciever is only working in Analog mode?

Before I call support at Harmon/Kardon tomorrow, I thought I'd ask you guys because it might be some small thing I'm overlooking.

I have an AVR 225 reciever. Speakers are hooked up correctly (sounds comes out), but I think I have my DVD hook up a little wrong.

Audio Video Cables connected to reciever. And I have an coaxial cable from the DVD player to the reciever.

But when I select edit: coaxial in, it doesn't work. Only analog mode.

Any ideas?

you have a rca cable going from the dvd to the receiver, but you're using optical in. That's wrong. Does your receiver have a RCA digital jack? If so, use that. Just plug any cheapo RCA cable frmo the digital out on the dvd player to the digital in on the receiver.

Optical is a different type of cable, you could use that if you have an optical out on your dvd player.

you're not using optical, you're using coaxial.

Opps selected optical by mistake on the reciever. But selecting coaxial still doesn't work for me🙁

I have a coaxial digital cable coming from the DVD plugged into the reciever's coaxial-in. I select coaxial-in as my input, still no sound.

Question? Can I have both the coaxial cable and the regular audio white/red cables plugged in at the same time?

Thankyou I'll try that.

hmm..don't know if you can have them both plugged in..probably not. i've never tried. but if they are both plugged in it might default to the analog. why would you have them both plugged in?

Oh, yes, I meant coaxial-in.

I have a coaxial digital cable coming from the DVD into the reciever's coaxial-in.

All you should have is 1 cable from the dvd's 'digital out' into the recievers digital in.

I wouldn't have both the analog outs and the digital out hooked up. And you're sure you're hooked up to the DIGITAL coaxial in?

Also, is there some type of input select on the receiver? It might be trying to get a PCM signal or something like that. Set it to auto detect if you can.

Yes, but there's no need. Make sure you have the digital in assigned right in your receiver and you have digital out enabled on the DVD player.

Lol, cause I don't know what I'm doing🙂 I'll remove the red/white cables and leave only the coaxial. Thanks!. I'll report back in 1 minute.
