I liked it. I wish we had a more realistic interpretation, almost a educational and instructive tv series on survibing a zombie apocalypse

thre was one show that sorta did that. it was frustrating because the characters constantly did the wrong thing, to show the consequences. we couldn't stop yelling "idiot!" for the whole show.

the outbreak is on the news
mom: where are you going?
dad: i'm going to work, of course. durrrrrrr

the electricity goes out
mom: we've got to get the hell out of here!
dad: the thing to do is stay and let it blow over. durrrrrr

the water stops
mom: are you happy now?
dad: ummm, it'll be fine. durrrrrr

3 weeks later, dad decides it's time to move
dad: we'll take the highway! nobody will have thought of that! durrrrrr!

I have one thing to say about these Zombie movies and especially about the walking dead.........

USE GUN SILENCERS!! GUN SILENCERS!!

Damn it!

You think someone would clue in eh?

suppressors would be of limited value, since you're scavenging as you go. empty a weapon and you might never find that ammo again. suppressors wouldn't work for shotguns, revolvers or any weapon with supersonic ammunition anyway. in a zombie apocalypse your primary weapon should be melee class - baseball or cricket bat, katana, something like that.

besides, who needs suppressors when you can take running headshots? has anyone missed a single shot yet?

Just watched the episode off the DVR last night.

Anyone else watching on DirecTV? I thought we finally had AMC in HD, but my recording was definitely not HD as it had the gray bars on either side of the screen. Wonder if I need to re-record the series or if anyone else noticed this?

Did you have the season pass from last season? If so it was still recording on the SD AMC channel. You will need to delete it from your season manager and re-add it with the AMC HD channel.

I had the same issue with Breaking Bad.

However, the AMC HD channel is HEAVILY compressed and looks like shit anyways.

They've started to pull away from the source material quite heavily to appeal to the masses. This has caused alot of unnecessary stupid shit, Shane should be dead already and this love triangle bullshit needs to end.

I like this series, but some things annoy me:

1) Little girl running into the woods. -- Why didn't she just run along the highway and circle around back to the group?

2) Love triangle needs to stop as darkamulets has mentioned.

3) Women who have to scream or make noise whenever they are trying to hide. -- like when the lady was in the RV bathroom hiding and when the short haired woman was hiding underneath the car.

Maybe it's just me but I thought the zombies could also smell the living if they were close enough. In season 1 I remembered they covered themselves with zombie blood and parts to mask their smell.

Season premier seemed pretty weak to me. Already sick of the love triangle, as others have stated.

It is pretty generous to call it a love triangle. She did what she thought she needed to do to survive, and he took advantage of the situation. The moment her husband showed up, that was the end of that.

Shane does not need to die, but the whole plot angle does.

Enough already, boff the grief-stricken blond ex-mommy and get on with it already!

There ARE ways to go "off script" but still stay on the same planet. I am just worried that if they continue as you have been saying (I have not read the series) that this will become more and more difficult.

This is not like Game of Thrones where they kill off half the cast each season/book. People only have a certain amount of patience for that.

So we either get departures from the original, or a series that lasts 2.5 seasons and goes away because its Fans simply did not buy enough crap to keep the producers/sponsors happy (Firefly, Arrested Development, etc).

I hear ya but limited value is better than NO value right?

That is all I am saying here.......at least have it in your arsenal of choices and use it when necessary. For example, have a backpack with it strapped to your back as often as possible. ONLY use the silencer when needed and not as a primary weapon of choice.

But, where the hell to find one? Now, that is the question here.

I like how the guy is on top of the RV doing the lookout with his binoculars and sees it all clear, then after a few seconds he looks again and there are hundreds within a few yards. Nice. 😛

If you watch it again, you'll notice that he was only watching one direction the whole time, forward of the camper where everyone was gathering supplies. He didn't look towards the back, until the zombies were already there.

That's the key. They can't even find a vehicle quieter than a loud as hell motorcycle or a vehicle more efficient than an RV. If these dudes were all driving multiple priuses, on the other hand, we'd have to question why they can't find suppressors.

I think it was alright, I hated the pacing AMC had for the commercials and what not and remember why I DVR this stuff now.

The zombie moment was tense, but i don't get why the zombies couldn't smell the people. It's just one of those, they spent awhile establishing they smell each other and can smell a human, how was hiding under a car enough?

The relationship triangle isn't as fascinating as the writers think it is. For most people it's "yea you slept with the dude, thought your husband was dead, sucks, oh well". Yea, the attempted rape made the relationship more interesting initially (I feel like an awful human being for typing that), but it really just extended the life of the "triangle" rather than adding a new layer which I don't think anyone wanted.

Hopefully they figure that out and end that story chain soon.

I agree. I end up fast forwarding through a lot of the "tense" moments because they over-do it.

Agreed

Bingo. I could not articulate the problem, but you nailed it (pun intended).

With the highway thing, I wouldn't of minded that whole herd of zombies sneaking up if it was on say a curve? It would explain why they had smooth sailing until they turned and hit the jam. That way you could argue that Dale didn't see them coming instead of just being inept.

One thing I would note is the comics have lost quite a few people along the way, maybe not main characters like Rick but lots of folks have died. This always lead to opportunities for the remaining characters to react to the death of loved ones. Would re-ignite the desire in people that were just going through the motions.

Again you can have mistakes take place by ignorance but not outright stupidity.

Say accidently leading roamers to the camp by using a noisy vehicle. Someone turning into a zombie cause of exposing themselves to sludge from a corpse on an open wound. Someone getting shot by accident due to the paranoia you would experience with constantly thinking you're about to die.

Now being outright stupid?

Alright, no one use a gun unless you really really have to cause the noise will bring unnecessary attention. Sure thing I'll just ride around on my harley all quiet like. Alright let me not make any noise but I'll drop parts to a gun I can't assemble in a bathroom. Why wouldn't someone be left on guard duty at night in camp?

Let's chop up a zombie and cover ourselves in it to sneak around the mass of undead. Damn we could of just used the sewers to move around and avoid all of that mess?

If they want to leave some mystery as to the zombies don't sit there and do one thing then a few episodes later contradict it.

I have no problem with them never revealing how the zombies came to be. I do have issues with them sometimes following you by sight (even though their eyes have rotted out) or covering yourselves with dead guy to hide your smell but hiding under cars is just as good.

I just hope that they eventually bring up that zombies will continue to decay (becoming less of a threat but allowing people to slack and creating great havoc) & can freeze in cold enough weather.

You mean a curve in the road like this.
