lol

It doesn't mean they don't. If you're an Elite member you can do just about anything short of killing another member and NOT get banned. Things that would normally get some people banned are overlooked because the Elites are personally known by the mods.

I accept it as the way things are, but you can't tell me they don't play favorites.

kill people ? oh please, half the time they gotta rescue me from the VIP washroom because I've gotten confused and can't find my way out . The Elites here are all generally pretty good peeps and are all very talented in different areas
and contribute a lot to the boards,of course what I bring to the table is still up for debate but heck the title beats some other things I could be called :)

Most of the Elites here have forgotten more about computers than most people will ever know about and are imho the backbone of the tech community on the web ! Without them this place would be just another teenage wasteland :)

<< Again i am proven correct..

The original post title was "ethics of the moderators"

But that's not what the poster wanted to discuss at all, they wanted to discuss the Best Buy/Geforce4 issue as i stated!!! That's why they changed the title to now read "EDIT: Reasons for the handling of the Best Buy Issue "

I TOLD YOU!! Nah, nah, nah, i told you....
>>

WRONG! The original title was Discussing the Ethics of Anandtech. And that is what it was. I was interested in why they were handling the issure the way that they were. Was it cause they were tired of hearing about it? Was it because Best Buy is a paying advertiser and they didn't want to loose the money? What was the motivation for their actions?

I never said anything bad about individual Elites. I was just commenting on their ability to do things "regular" folks wouldn't be able to. I know some of the Elites, including yourself, are fine people. They all might be deep down inside, but have chosen for one reason or another not to display this part of their personality. I can only make judgement for myself on what I read.

just adding to the flames.

when i read the revised title, i still got the impression that bastion was just using a second username to say what his original personna was not allowed too. be that as it may.

the best buy issue isn't an issue at all. so you didn't get something for less than YOU KNOW it was worth SO WHAT.

I would thing the GATEWAY issue would be a more legitimate one to try and champion.

i like many here don't really like the whole HD crowd. I used to get into it, but the pettiness, the overuse of coupons that wasn't intended for them. the trying to weasel around staples PM policies. it all really annoys me. and for what a measly few bucks?

<< Thankyou for that response. Based on what you and others have said, I am editing the original title of this thread. >>

I really don't think the mods are "rude". They have a job to do and they can't play favorites.

If they came in here to respond, everyone and their dog would demand the same kind of action every time they had a question.

In time you wil learn there are a few things Mods don't like, aviod those things and you'll be fine.

I've pissed off a LOT of people here with my tone and position and I've never been sensored by a Moderator.

I think they do a great job at walking the line between freedom of discussion and unbreakable rules that must be inforced.

The mods don't play favorites? Okay, well I'm GQ man of the year, have $34.6 million in the bank, and am engaged to Laetitia Casta. I'm also the dictator of a small 3rd world country.

I think everyone should not give this guy such a hard time. He is right about the way Mods do things around here. It is obvious that almost everyone last one of them is an ignorant arrogant loser. Funny all the little power trips they have to pull to feel validated like they are actually someone important. Hell, if they had a life they wouldn't be spending time discriminating posts. There are only a few that do their job fairly and try to be professional. The rest, which have more PCs at home then their IQ, have no consistency in the way that they lock threads. Hey they are a bunch of pus_ies, so do what I do and just ignore it because these assholes are everywhere in the world and you have to just learn to have thick skin. And then be thankful for the very few Mods that do a good job.

Thank you for you valuable insights.

This thread is over a month old. I think we're done giving him a hard time.

Well, just incase anyone is still interested in how badly Best Buy treats their customers, please check out the newest update at Hypothermia and Abrahams telling of what happened at The Hardforum (his screen name is Some321, post located about halfway down the page).

Best Buy had this guy arrested for doing nothing more than walking into the store and inquiring about a price match on the GF4 card. He did not yell, or bitch or get physical, or try to argue with the managers. They just decided they didn't want to deal with him and called the cops on him, falsely accusing him of fraud. All I know is that I'm never spending my money at Best Buy again if that is how they treat customers that they don't feel like talking to that day.

Anandtech gets no advertising revenue from Beast Buy. The moderators have let it slip that BB ads are part of a rotation of adclick.

Oftentimes a "legitimate" thread gets locked because of the rude responses of members . . . when it "gets out of hand". Also, certain legal issues are involved when members start to name "names" and possible slander issues are involved.

And sometimes it is just "human error" on the mods part. If you want to join in on the current BeastBuy bashing thread it is still open (link in above post) - but keep it civil and it may stay unlocked.
