Thx this is what I need. I am aware of all those other great deals on WD or Maxtor drives, but they can never relate to the quietness of a seagate.

Nice drive those Seagates. I bought the 80GB and the 120GB last time CUSA had these on sale and I will buy this 120GB again because $.50/GB is really good for a brand like Seagate.

Definitely a nice drive.

I have two Seagates and no problems with either. The quietness is worth the extra $.

I'd say it's better than warm deal at $60. The CUSA Seagate rebates are good too. I got mine in a timely manner. Better than OM these days. That's for sure. I bought this drive a couple of months ago for $90 after rebates. Seagate hasn't been as agressive as Maxtor or WD until recently on pricing, but I'd have to say that the Seagate is worth the money.

The Maxtor's are nice. Not my favorite, but not my least favorite either. Kind of middle of the road on noise and performance IMO. The WD SE's are awesome if you get one that doesn't get noisy on you. They are probably the quickest in my experience. I have two SE WD drives currently and one is actually quieter than the Seagate, but the other one is noisier than an old 10K Fujitsu SCSI drive that I have. The thing screams and whines. Works fine, but it's noisy. I think I'm going to either though it in a noisy external enclosure or RMA it. I'll probably RMA it anyway when it gets closer to its 3 year warranty running out.

What the warranty with seagate. I went for that 80gig maxtor deal with OD last week, I might just sell the drive on ebay. My last maxtor (1 year warrranty) went dead on the 14 month.

Nice! Might be getting this. Thanks!

I'm sure we'll see the day when it's $.10/GB! Remember when it hit $1/MB? It wasn't "too" long ago.

This is actually quite hot...

Seagate, in my opinion, is a premum brand over Maxtor/WD precisely for the fact that they are MUCH more reliable and much quieter, overall, I've found...

They do run hot and are a bit slower but I have a 40GB Barracuda IV going in my main rig for nearly 3 years without a hiccup...it's about to get retired, though.

Just got one last week for $10 more - I can not even tell it is running it is so quiet! The only time I hear anything is on its first spin up.

Really, I have the exact oppostie experience. I have had a few seagates die on me, but even myu oldest WD sill runs.

cool i was just gonna post this on here, after walking into cusa looking for the 250 meg deal. walked away w/ the seagate, and these drives never go on sale!!

i also checked out bb, think they have the 160gig after rebate at 89.99 and 80gig for $49.99 after rebates..

depending on how this works out, i might go back for a second one, and have the rebate sent elsewhere. not that i really need more storage, but wth right? ^^

Unless your fans can drown your HD whine out, you should really get these for your ear's sake.

Make sure you have a dedicated fan cooling the drive. These Seagate's don't handle overheating very well.
