i don't think it's a dvd-r copy, but it's def not a legit copy of band of brothers.

if you look at the auction, it will say that it's a region free dvd. (first flag.. the studio release is R1 only.)
second flag is the chinese subtitle option.

this guy is selling a pirated copy that originates from either china or taiwan. besides the ethical issues, the quality may not be guaranteed. ie, the audio track not syncing w/ the video. but since you understand english, this shouldn't have much issues.

you won't get the fancy metal box of the studio release, but who knows, you might be able to live w/ paying fraction of what the msrp is.. but do remember that you are most likely picking up a pirated copy.

The thing that I wanted was the 5.1 surround. Any chance it'll have that?

Should I cancel and report him?

Well, it's a HBO special, and they have 5.1 on HBO now.

Either way, I sent an email requesting a full refund within the next 12 hrs. and I won't leave a feedback. Otherwise I'll leave one.

Regardless I'll probably report it. He's selling a butt load of Godfather DVD's as well.

Region free means its not legit. Cancel it if you can... ask him some questions first and see what he says then report him.

well..in all fairness you are a non paying bidder. Just leave him a negative in return saying all his stuff is pirated.

I did pay. That's the thing. I paid immediately after the auction.

I sent an email to the sender asking for a refund, and they refunded my money.

Yep, E-bay is riddled with pirates.

Wanna see? Just type on "star wars trilogy DVD" in search for the entire site (not just the DVD section) and you'll find dozens of sellers selling the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD and VCD. PLUS you'll find people selling the supplies to make covers for the DVDs.
