Which hotel do you recommend? The poll lists the hotel prices I found, and their rates. That is the average rate over a 4 night stay in the middle of December(Wed night through Sat night). My girlfriend and myself will be going, and we will be catching the Mystere show at the least. I'm thinking personally that The Paris hotel has the best deal for a romantic getaway, and the price is good for the quality of the hotel. What do you guys think?

EDIT: So I decided to book The Paris hotel through orbitz. When I clicked on it, it said the price has changed, and the weekend rate jumped to $100 on friday and around $150 for Sat night! ARG! :| So then I checked other rates like that on Orbitz(like bally's, ceasars) and everyone of them does the same thing! The Wed and Thr rates stay the same, but the weekend rates skyrocket!

My wife just came back from the Bellagio last week. Seemed pretty impressive from her description - and the pictures. However, they only have 3,000 rooms and I'm sure the rates are not too cheap.

I haven't even been (been doing a lot of looking into it for a vacation next year though) and if I were going I'd want to be somewhere smack in the middle of the strip and not toward the end. So from your list, I'd say Paris, Caesar's, or NY NY. By the way, if you sign up for some of the e-mail lists (like I did with the Venetian) they'll occasionally send you awesome deals. Some have crappy blackout dates, some don't. I think Venetian rooms (all suites) usually go for $200+ a night, but my last offer was for $99 a night (on certain dates naturally.)

If you are leaning on A main drag hotel, you will pay for meals through the nose in places like Paris and Belaggio. But if thats OK with you, go for it. Paris is a lovely hotel.

I stayed one block off of Las Vegas Blvd at an Italian style Hotel for way cheaper and suite size room with broadband connectivity, and walked to the Blvd to enjoy the strip hotels eats and gambling.

If this is your first visit, enjoy it and go where it looks fun to you. Where you sleep is less important than the places you will see and the experience.

IMHO. I live 100 miles from downtown LV. I 've been to them all. ;)

Which hotel was that? I've been to Vegas once before, but my girlfriend has neveb been there before. I'd be up for staying in a cheaper place, because you can always just walk in the nicer hotels and look around :D

Bellagio and the Venetian are the nicest on the strip. Paris is a close runner up. The Venetian is cool because it's not at the end, but in the middle of the strip... and it's all suites. :)

Amen. The location looks great and the rooms look awesome from what pictures and reviews I've seen. When I go, I'm hoping to stay either there or in the new tower at Caesar's. I've heard the rooms in that area are super nice as well. I figure I won't get out there very often so go ahead and splurge on the room since I'm not an idiot and won't spend much money on gambling.

That's a good rate on the Paris, I'd stay there. It's new and the rooms are bound to be nicer.

Bally's is older, so are Harrah's and Flamingo. Treasure Island I've never been inside, it seems like a circus though.

I'd stay at any of these center strip hotels myself, and have stayed at Harra's (ugly wallpaper in the rooms) and Flamingo (service was on the decline when I was there a couple years ago).

Ceasar's is really nice, and they've been remodeling, 89 is a little on the high side for me personally. don't forget they add taxes to these prices.

Have fun! :)

I stayed at Bally's about a month ago. It is connected to Paris so you can roam over there without stepping outside the building. It's in a good location, and has a tram behind it to the Grand (which is across from Excalibur, NYNY, and Tropicana). We told them it was our hooneymoon and they upgraded us to a larger suite with a cool bathroom and plenty of space.

Tropicana is a crappy dump. We went to the Comedy Stop there and afterwards, I just wanted to leave. It's a dump.

Flamingo looked nice, but the inside is old, and pink, and seems pretty blah.

Treasure Island is cool, and newly renovated, but at the far side of the strip and not very close to NYNY, Grand, or other places like that.

Paris is great. But, if Ballys is cheaper, they are connected so it's about the same.

NYNY is nice. No doubt about it. I'd like to stay there. But, it's double the price...I'm a cheapskate.

If you are mostly concerned with cost/location the Flamingo is the best bet of the ones you listed. It's close to the middle, has cheaper rooms, and the buffet (last Dec.) is $14.95. At places like Caeser's and Bellagio your rooms are 3x+ as expensive, and the buffet prices 3x as well.

I personally like downtown like the Golden Nugget.

My girl wants to stay at the Luxor, she's got this thing for Egyptian stuff. But everyone I've talked to says not to stay there.

Whats wrong w/ Circus Circus? :D

I don't really care which hotel I'm at. I just sleep there, as long as the rooms clean I'm fine with that. After all you can go to just about any hotel and partake in the entertainment.

My wife and I stay at the Golden Nugget. Its old school, but they got a kick ass spa and I like playing blackjack/craps downtown (Binions had dollar single deck last time I was there).

You're all forgetting about possibly the nicest hotel on the strip AND one with the best gambling odds, Mandalay Bay. The two times I have gone, I stayed for a week at the Golden Nugget, and at Hotel San Remo, which is next door to the MGM. You can't really go wrong with the more well known names, but I'd stay away from the ones that you never hear about. Of the ones on your poll, Treasure Island and Paris seem to be the best deals.

I disagree. The Mirage dispite being 10 yrs old is still the nicest. But then again I like the tropical theme and those tigers/dolphins are cool.

Tuscany Hotel and Casino one block off thr Strip right behind Bailys that connects to the Paris, and Belagio is directly across the street from Baillys.

This is a nice, NICE hotel.

If you will have transportation available, also check out the Rio, Orleans and Palms.
Palms is the newest in Vegas strip area and is pushing to be the in-place for the club scene.
Green Valley ranch is 10 minutes east of the airport and is the newest in the area - intended for the high rollers that do not want the hastle of the strip.

It's been awhile since I've been in Vegas but I liked going to the Rio; all Jr. Suite rooms.

It's too far from everything, or at least it was in my opinion. You had like a mile walk to the heart of the strip, where Ceasars/MGM/Excaliber/NYNY are. The rooms we had were really nice and super comfortable, but I'd rather be closer.

I was way impressed with Ceasars when I was there, and if I ever go to vegas again (doubtful, gambling is a tax on those who are bad at math, with the execption of blackjack, and the shows don't interest me) I'd stay at Ceasars

Id either stay at the Paris or Caesars if i was with the gf...I stayed at Treasure Island last time with a bunch of friends....its kinda far from everything cuz its on the end. Though last time i was there, they were building some new mall across the street from it. I didnt do much sleeping anyways but since u'll be with ur gf...u want a nice romantic hotel.
