I heard the best time to go is 5:30 am EST.

I will heading to Ave 39 / Azusa in South Cal if I am still awake.

EDIT:
I did go up the mountain but authority blocked the road half to the top (about 3 miles after East Fork).
either the moon was too bright or we didn't get high enough, it was quite a disappointment coz last year's was way better; while expert claims this year meteor shower will be the best of the century.

and to make matter worst, I CANNOT concentrate staring at the sky consistently for more than 30 seconds, so I kept on missing out when the meteor strikes. damn you A.D.D. !!!!!

Are you going up in the canyon? If you got up around the East Fork it would probably be far enough from the city lights to give you a good view.

Oh, no, I'm not getting up/staying up at/til that time.

I'm gonna try. I'll probably just get up for a while and then go back to bed. It's supposed to be the best one for another 30 years. I think that's worth missing a few hours sleep.

I'm planning on it. The best hour is going to be 1AM - 2PM in Alaska.

i don't know where East Fork is exactly (I think I know, there's a split road where you can make a 90 degree right turn into right?) but I want to go to the top anyways. the drive is FUN :) :) :)

It should be the best Leonids show for the next 100 years. We'll see. I'm too wiped out now to consider it thoroughly.

Moon? What moon, all I see is clouds. Here in the PNW I don't think we will be able to see anything other then rain drops.

A coworked is spending the week in the Wallowa's hoping for some clear weather, if it happens, he'll freeze his back side but should get a good show.

It's clear, but the moon is full this year. So you don't need to stress about dark skies as much as last year.

?????

So, you think that the full moon will make it easier to see the meteors??

Sorry, I forgot how many simple minds are on these forums.

Last year:

You had no moon. If you could get to really dark skies it's worth it since there's nothing to wash the fainter meteors out.

This year:

There's a full moon which equates to suburbian skies from a large city. Since rural areas will not benefit much more than a suburban area there is no need to travel hours if you live in a suburban area, since the benefit is markedly less than last year.
