I found this in a magazine ad (Tiger B2B) and it seemed like a pretty hefty bang for the buck considering it outperformed the new HD 4850 in most cases according to Anand's review.

I'm thinking of replacing my HD2900Pro with it.

Will my old 2900 CF w/ this card on an ABIT IP35Pro mobo (supports CF, but not sure about CF-X).

Should I pull the trigger or wait to see what happens with the impending launch of the 4870?

I don't know. I did a quick web search on TigerDirect.com but they wanted $399 for that card. I'm gonna call the 1-800 number on the magazine and get more information.

If it works out for me I'll be sure to post up details so you can get your own. Oh yeah, this is supposedly an overclocked edition accoring to the write up.

It's probably a typo, I seem to recall seeing 3870s going for that same price after MIR but certainly not the 3870X2.

That would be an amazing deal if true - but it sounds more like a printing mistake than an actual sale.
