Hiya,
I have all of my system parts ordered exept for the RAM.
I am building a P4 with a i845E chipset.
The motherboard I have choosen is not a high overclocker so the max FSB speed is 165.
I ordered a guaranteed SL6EF from
Guaranteed SL6EF
The chip was a good deal, and I wanted to do a little overclocking.
I dont think my motherboard has any voltage settings for the RAM.. but it does have settings
for the CPU.
What I need is RAM that is a pretty safe bet to run at 165 default voltage, also... I dont know what memory we will be using when we go to the 800 MHz FSB???? I would like for my RAM to last through
my next upgrade as well. Oh almost forgot.. it would be nice if I could find 222 RAM that would do this.
My goal is simply to be stable at 165 FSB. I am not a hardcore overclocker but it seems some
of the new chips OC so easy that its a waste not to OC a little. My current system is still running
on a BX chipset so this will be my first overclock that will allow the rest of my system to be in spec.
If you wanna know about my motherboard I have choosen a
Tyan Trinity i845E S2099ANR
This mobo can be had for just over a hundered bucks and is loaded with stuff.. Promise ATA 133,
LAN and 6 channel sound. Built on sound is good enough for me.
I know this kind of board is far from being an overclockers dream.. but I have always enjoyed
the stablility of a Tyan board.
I would also like to say thanks to everyone in this forum and the Hot Deals forum as well.
I haven't been posting but I have been lurking and picked most of my stuff from links
and advice here at anandtech. I got a GREAT deal on a case.
Peace
Rich
