Half plus seven dictates that you cannot.

0.5*21+7=17.5

This means the youngest girl you can date is 17.5. Half plus seven works throughout the ages.

It will be acceptable for you to date her when she is 19 and you are 24.

0.5*24+7=19

Dude, you aren't going to get the answer you want....

My ex was 12 years older than me and the age difference came up ALL the time! Everyone always fixated on it and it ultimately broke up our relationship.. well that and the fact that she was a crazy bitch. :|

dude, it's o.k. if you are:

a) living in Alabama

b) related to her by blood

and c) going to be having kids

get a grip! you must be going to a really crappy college if you aren't smart enough to figure out the answer to your question.

let me put this to you another way. My teacher is 24 years old. That would be like my math teacher dating a sophomore.

It's wrong. Just wrong.

Two things show that you know the answer...

The fact that you feel the need to ask practically anonymous people for "moral permission", thereby giving you leave of your conscience, and the fact that in your poll you only give one possible positive answer and multiple negative results.

I went through a similar situation when I was 19 (although the age difference was way less, 3 years), and I feel I made the wrong decision. I had been out of high school for over a year and she was just entering her sophomore year. It's one of the very few decisions that I look back on and feel ashamed about. The reason why she makes you feel so good... like you mean the world to her... is because she's 16, and far as she knows right now, you are the world.

Don't do it. Look for a woman.

borders on pedophilia....

some would say that 5 years is no difference (i.e. 28 and 23) but when comparing 16 and 21 there is a big difference in maturity... Maturity in terms of emotional maturity and how a person can deal with others and themselves. Girls that age can be real fickle... it's probably very likely that she doesn't really know what she wants. You may know what you want... but it's different when you're talking about a teenage girl.

Date women your age.

I don't know what's more pathetic, the original situation or the fact that it takes your mom to decide for you how to resolve it.

My mom highly disapproves because she says she doens't look like my type. Also, she says that she looks like she has too much experience with guys. on a third note, she says she doesn't look her age. My mom mainly disapproves because she looks too flirty and not innocent enough i guess.
Your mom sure knows a lot about people just by how they look.

You're doing the right thing, but I don't know if you're doing it for the right reasons. :)

I know how wrong this question seems; an adult asking a riduculous question like this must be crazy. Well, if that is what it is called, then call me crazy. Not yet though. :D

There is this particular girl and she is fly. Very fly, and I'm asking you kind folks your opinion regarding this scandalous topic.

Is it morally acceptable to date somebody who is that young? It isnt' against the law is it? Hope not. Let me tell you what though, being brought up in a Christian household, i not intend to have sex before marriage and besides, I did meet her at a church. :) But on the other hand, i'm a 3rd year college student and she is still in HS... I kind of feel like i'm robbing the cradle. =( ARgh.. What 2 do?

She is soo fine. She looks like a Korean singer named Boa. Here is Boa's picture.

Well anyways, here is the picture of the gal I like... This is my gal

So what do you guys think? Proceed on or back off? She does have a wonderful personality and isn't stuck up or anthing if that helps. I realized that women who grow older get more corrupted with drinking, smoking etc... I prefer my women holy and still innocent. :D

Edit: my final thoughts :frown:

Ok, here is my final thought on this ongoing controversy. I'm not gonna advance the relationship. I'll just tell her that we come from two different worlds, Krypton and Earth.

Reasons why i decided to pull the plug?
1. My mom highly disapproves because she says she doens't look like my type. Also, she says that she looks like she has too much experience with guys. on a third note, she says she doesn't look her age. My mom mainly disapproves because she looks too flirty and not innocent enough i guess.

2. my sister as well disapproves. she says she is to young and that i'm crazy. she also says she doesn't look good with me.

3. I value my parents' decision regarding life choices, women, money, etc. Since i am asian and all, i was brought up to be respectful to elders and highly value/apreciate their opinions and guidance in life. I guess this all comes with the terrority of being Asian.

So much for love, eh gang? It's aite. there are plenty of other mosquitos around the swamp... :(

how should i break it to her? bleh, its aite. guess i need to worry about finals now.. damn school!
Most if not all Asian mother think that their son is too presious/much better than all women. However your sister might have a better view of the situation due to being educated/modernize by the western culture.

Dump her real mean like... that way she'll be all jaded like and take it out on the next loser -er I mean man- to have her. :p

Just kidding. You did the right thing, now break it to her gently and then move on. Find a nice over-the-age-of-18 woman. :)

GROW SOME BALLS MAN! Live your own life! You're 21 for God's sake! Live for yourself, not for your mom, sister, priest, homeless guy down the street!

TAKE THE RISK AND GO FOR IT! else you'll be kicking yourself years for now wondering what if. and that's a HORRIBLE feeling. See my thread about the girl i should have but didnt: Risk/regret/what-if

and if you ignore my advice, can I have her #? :D

[Jumpem:] "For what it's worth i'm 24 and dating a 16 year old girl.

Jumpem, aren't you the guy that same months ago with exact same scenario and asked for our opinions? You mean you still went for it?

Now, I don't know what to to believe: Jumpem, WayneTek and other guys with same dilemma seem to come with same facts: Strong Christian background, never dated, have no intent to have sex, etc. Uhmmmm . . . is this just an hogwash or is it for real or does it have any merits?

No need to say much. WayneTek, follow the example of Jumpem. He apparently didn't listen to our advices and went on anyway to date the chick. Advices go in and then promptly exit through the other ear.
