Is HW2 available on any of the digital distribution sites? I have a hankering to play it again but I'd like to play without the CD if possible . . ..

HW/HW2 has no widescreen support at all which kind of sucks. Two of my all time favorite games though.

Where the "XXXX" and "YYYY" are the resolution you wanted. It is recommended that you edit the game shortcut to use this method.

And point defense mod works just fine. The whole project went in a different direction at one point so the last I tried was the classic version which is V7.something. Anyway it worked fairly well and was awesome. I used the mod in conjunction with a trainer I found on the web to have some epic space battles that brought my computer then to its knees.

That Point Defense mod kicks ass. Gives HW2 a very nBSGish feel.

Edit: Been trying to play HW2 again (I've only played through it twice, while I played Homeworld and Cataclysm each about 15 times), and I keep getting stuck on that damn Shipyard level. Endless Vaygr marine frigates, yay!

I played Homeworld 2 using the "-W XXXX -H XXXX" trick from above on my HDTV before. It looked glorious in widescreen at 1080p on my old 52" HD projection TV.

Neither game has true "native" widescreen gaming support, though.

Last time I tried to play HW2 with widescreen resolution, I remember having severe problems preventing me playing at all. The mouse input was completely FUBAR, I couldn't click on or select units. I dunno, maybe there was a fix somewhere that I was missing.

Yay for homeworld threads! Man do I wish.. even pray that one day on some gaming news site I will read just a little nugget containing the words "Homeworld 3"

that would be the biggest adrenaline rush ever. HW, Homeworld: Cataclysm, and HW2 were all awesome games. The HW:C online matches were particularly fun.
