Hey whats the easiest way to manage your MP3s on your ipod? For all my albums just create a playlist named the album's name?? I dont want to add all 9 gigs of my music and have to re arrange everything after i get done.

------------ORIGINAL POST-----------
"Hey guys just got home from my aunt's house with a new Ipod. I just plugged it into my USB port on my main computer and its charging but says "Do Not Disconnect" Its been like htis for about 10 minutes now.

What is is doing? And is this normal? BTW this is the FIRST time ive plugged it into my machine and Windows XP recognized it correctly as a mass storage device and as an Ipod."

I figured it may be formatting cause when i click on it inside My computer it says "this drive is unforammted, format now?" and of cousre i clicked no cause its apparently doing something.

Ok im loading the software now.

hey if I want to use the ipod as a HD (transfer file to a friend's comp), do I need to install stuff on his comp??

SO i can drag/drop mass files on my ipod??

Good to know, thanks bud.

But it is actually OK to unplug it in this state? as long as your not transfering obviously.

Yes, I've unplugged it before while it says "Do Not Disconnect"... if you're transferring data, it might f it up, but otherwise no, it wont hurt it.

And yes, you can drag and drop files onto the thing... it's really easy.

DO NOT DISCONNECT!

Sometimes files are cached and not immediately transfered. I can;t say much more about it because I don;t know, but it would be a good idea to unmount it before. I've pulled stuff off of linux machine only to fvk it up and yet my IPOD has survived a few pulls.

For peace of mind, unmount the bitch😉

Words to live by😉

Itunes isnt exactly my favorite, i need to figure out how to use this crap. Feel like its taking over my comp.

EDIT: figured it all out, copying my first 194 meg of songs to test it out. 🙂

MAN i cant beleive that some people would have more than 20 gigs of songs, i have 9 gigs from the past 7 years.

i disconnect mine all the time when it says don't disconnect. haven't had a problem with it for an entire year.

RTFM

Seriously though, I thought I could figure out how to use my iPod and everything by my self without the manual..... and I did

Good to know, good to know. I think as long as your not transferring you can pull it with no probs. My friend HAS to stop his USB mem stick before he removes it everytime. Ive been pulling my USB key for 2 years with no probs.

HOLLY SH!TE, this thing rules. 192 KBS song at full volum sounds great. I've never heard a portable audio player sound this good! My buddies ZEN micro sounds good but not this good. (I should put the same song on his and compare)

hey I tried moving some of my songs to a friend's comp. When I plug in the ipod the songs doesnt show up. do I need to do something else first??

The shiny case is getting to you. You know, playing from a portable cd player is higher quality at ~1117k or whatever it is.

I thought CD quality was 128KBS?? If the song im listening to is encoded at a higher bit rate how can the cd be better?

No i mean like, if i were to look at your playlists would i see a bunch of albums? So you scroll through hundreds of play lists with hundreds of songs in each one?? that doesnt seem like the best way.
