I'm guessing the 32 in the G71 column is the number of "pipes", but what's the other thing that has been increased to 24?

The table that i mention with the picture has something strange for the 7900GTX aswell as 750Mhz clock and 950 Memory clock.

If the G71 is using ram capable of 950MHz it'll probably cost a pretty penny.

Wow 750 core clock for the g71? Triple slot cooler? Water? Phase change? The rods they use to cool nuclear reactors?

lol

It will certainly glow green if that were the case. I am guessing this is more guess work from this site.
MMMMMMMMMMM Quad SLI, gather round the computer to keep warm kids.
Can you imagine what will happen when you put full load on. Lights dim, cat flips. dog barks, wife crying in the corner. any undeveloped negatives are exposed to radiation when near a computer.
lol.

No No, come to mine, I have the DELL George forman lean mean fat grilling quad SLI machine.
I'm so proud of it, I put my name on it.
The meat has a distinct silicone char grilled radioactive taste to it.........MMMMMMMM
Turn the light off and you can have a party in the green.

On a more serious note, I dont see how this solution can be at all cost friendly for Nvidia, I am now even leaning to the theary that these specs are fake. Noone would be this stupid twice to release a product that is unsustainable. Unless it is.
There was talk on another thread that the memory speed for the XT and XTX would only have 25mhz difference like the core but on many sites i have seen this 775 memory for the XTX which is 50mhz(100 effective) faster.

Maybe the xtx specs are fake? If not, then who in their right mind would pay $100 extra for 25 more mhz?

Sure that means 950Mhz DDR which is 1900Mhz memory.

Maybe it'll say on the box "WARNING: Not for use with Prescott".

R580 = 16ROPs, 16 texture units in total, 16 pipelines with 3 shader pixels per pipe for total of 48 pixel shaders

G71 = 16ROPs, 24 texture units in total, 32 pipelines with 1 shader pixel per pipe for taol of 32 "pure" (pure because 1:1 ratio) pipelines.

To be nitpicky, you don't have to be able to speak Mandarin to be able to read the webpages. If you're fluent (and literate) in any of the dozens of Chinese dialects, you can probably read any of them. Mandarin uses the same written language as Cantonese, Min, Gan, etc. . . That's one of the things that helped unite China as a single country despite having the land area of nearly all of Europe.

Current 7800 has two pixel units per pipes for total of 48. If this thing is 32 pipes expect it to be 64 pixel units.

The 7800's and the 6800's have 2 ALU's per pipeline. Those are your basic math units, but they both make up one pixel shader. All Ati cards since the r300 also have 2 ALU's per pipeline (although one is not a duplicate of the other). When the site says 48 pixel shaders, it does not mean 48 ALU's, it means 48 pixel shaders with 2 ALU's each. Most of these sites will be lucky if they can grasp the irrelevance of the term "pipe" when referring to the r5xx cards, I dont expect them to get even more technical with individual ALU's.

What's confusing is the number 24 for the g71 specs. You cant say it has 32 pipes and 24 TMU's, because a TMU is half the pipe, with the other half being the pixel shader. If it did have 24 TMU's, then the 32 would only be the number of pixel shaders. Separating the TMU's from the pixel shaders would require a major redesign of the g70 gpu, and I doubt NV would have done that for a refresh product.

Its pretty easy to figure the table out if you know g70's specs.

I've relabelled the table (no, I don't speak any chinese) Image

Makes sense. The top ??? must be transistor count. ie. G70 = 3.02 ==> 302 million so expect 350 million for R580? and 321 million for R520.

The characters look the same but they mean different things and are pronounced differently.
