I just picked 1 up online for pickup (NY LI location 47 left) a q9400 for 160 + tax
Ive been waiting for this to go on sale usually it's going for $179.99 @ MC
so if your by a MC it seems like a pretty good deal (to me it seems like a good deal)

What's the lowest price that the Q9400 has ever been at MC? Is it this price? Or has it been lower?

I ask that because the Q8200 was $100 at one point, for three days, then it went up to $140, and now it's back down to $120. Not a bad price, but not the best price overall.

I picked up three Q8200s for $100 ea, now I'm thinking of picking up two Q9400s. First, because they overclock better, and second, because they support Intel VT feature, which may be necessary to run "virtual XP mode" in Windows 7. (Because Intel is adding VT support to many of their lower-end CPU models soon.)

Whoever decided to not enable VT on all quad core "Core2" processors should DIAF.

If they don't have all the features, they should be celerons. How hard would that have been? That goes for the DC versions without it too...

I was under the impression all Core 2 Duo and Quad parts support VT. But your motherboards bios needs to be able to use it? I have Dell desktops with E5200s that are running HyperV for testing purposes.

this is the cheapest mc ever offered the q9400
at one point the q9300 was on sale for $100 but it was always out of stock
I was goin to grab the q8200 months ago but held out because of the lack of vt

e8000 does except the e8190 which i dont think ever has been really sold.

e7000 doesnt.

or the e4000.


so basically only the high end core 2s (or well high end when they were released). The pentium D 9x0 series has them too. the 5 ones are "disabled"

basically only "vpro" compliant machines have VT. part of their enterprise ready line . I work on software that uses some vpro features so I have gone over these product specs a lot haha.
 
Well, I picked up two Q9400s. Slated to replace my E2140s @ 3.2Ghz, hopefully I can also get the Q9400s up to 400x8 = 3.2Ghz as well.
(or possibly higher, if I wanted to push my RAM speeds a bit.)

3200 is pretty much guaranteed, even on the stock cooler (although i wouldn't for long, esp with the summer coming).
 
That q9400 is very tempting. Might just pick one up in Tustin.

By the way, what's up with all the links referring to detonator.dynamitedata.com? I've seen this in several threads.
 
Man deal like these made me wish IO have 965P DS3 v2 or 3. Too bad I only have V1 so I am out of luck on these sweet processor deal since the best I can get would be like the Q6700.
