EDIT: American Express "free" Blue Loot rewards program has been canceled! First the free ISP, now this!

Part of the email I got is below, and it if you notice it said fee-free automatic enrollment. Well I logged on today, and notice I have a $10 "MEM RWDS CORP CARD LINKAGE FEE". So if anyone got this email message check and make sure you were not charged like I was. I'm on the phone right now waiting to see what American Express has to say about this.

Well I called Amex and I got this charge because I have a corporate card which they enrolled in the program without my knowledge. So they took off the 10 charge. If you have a Corp Amex and a Blue Loot Amex this will probably affect you.

On a side note, it appears than American express is getting rid of the Blue Loot program completely, and putting all Blue Amex people in "Membership Rewards Options". The new program appears to be the same as the Amex "Membership Rewards" which costs around $70 annually to enroll in. I talked with a customer service rep and asked her if the program I just got enrolled into(Membership Rewards Options) was free, and she said the fee for the first year is waived. So Blue Loot is gone just like Amex's free ISP program. They keep getting cheaper. In a year anyone with a Blue Card will probably get a letter saying something to the effect of, "Start paying an annual fee for your rewards, or get outta the program!". One of the main reasons I got this card from American Express is because of the free awards program.... :|
 
Yea, the program fee is expensive, but the rewards are awesome and well worth it if you use the card enough. Get the rewards book and look at it. Its simply amazing. 🙂
